I use a unity currently in 1 of my builds just curious thats all.
All good yah havenât heard only negative things about them, lots of positive too. Each motor can only be driven by a single ESC though so if running dual unities for real youâd be going 4WD or have the extras disabled I donât think thereâs any way to get them opening the gates to let power flow to coils in the motor in perfect synch otherwise.
Wonât work; Nothing to keep the two controllers in sync.
Yah basically was saying no to that above but will let others clarify⌠Iâve been wrong before.
If the FETs still worked on the dead side, it might be possible to hotwire it so all 12 FETs were driving one motor â but I wouldnât trust my face or elbows to such a setup.
To be clear, youâd have to do MAJOR surgery to the PCB
And then things like temperature sensing might not be reading half of your drivers
The short answer is ânoâ you cannot do that. Of course, with enough time and money you can do anything thoughâŚ
Yeah. It might be possible to parallel the power stages to both run from one brain, but it would be a reverse-engineering adventure.
Thereâs no provision to have two brains, each running a separate power stage, sync up to run one motor.
We wouldnât be having this discussion if folks werenât buying âdualâ ESCs.
Thatâs the big advantage of some of the âmodularâ ESCs Iâve seen - You can use one brain to run any kind of power stage. Need 10v and 10000A? No problem. Need 100V and 100A? Also not a problem.
There arenât enough affordable single options that last.
yetâŚ
I agree 100%. There are multiple vendors and individuals working the problem.
Be patient and buy used ones or Flipsky or shell out for VESC6 in the meantime
me and my brother are currently hoarding like 5 Focboxes so we are good.
Just like experimenting with stuff as we are still young and dumb.
If youâre young and dumb, and you know youâre young and dumb, then youâre smarter than the other 99.9% who think they are the smartest gift to society the world has ever seenâŚ
Man when I was younger I thought I was the fucking bomb, but in fact I didnât know shit. Itâs funny now to me.
Forgot who, but someone once told me that the more you know, the more you know you donât know.
In the same vein, knowing what you donât know is the first step towards learning!
Itâs a great outlook that I wish more people would take to heart.
I was told something by a teacher that will forever stick with me.
You can be as intelligent as you want in school, but when it comes to life you need experience.
because of this Iâve always understood that Iâm only 15 and I have so much to learn, unlike the self centered, Smart ass kids at my school. I have always taken criticism not as a bad thing but something to learn from and build off of which Is why I value the forum so much.
Also stupid opinion but a movie that should honestly be required to watch before graduation is Good Will Hunting. If you have ever watched it, you know what I mean.
