Archived: the OG noob question thread! 😀

In a non-structural application JB clearweld should be fine. Good for quick repairs.

Always clean the surface properly, no dirt, dust or moisture. If it’s a thru hole, tape the back of it closed and fill the hole. Bonus points for taping the front just around the edge of the hole. Mix epoxy well and fill the hole. Leave the tape in place while you sand to protect the surface. :+1:

That’s the most unstable looking thing I’ve ever seen. And choosing round truck hangers to mount it on, means the person who designed it has no idea what they’re doing.

Got someone with a possibly broken BMS. Checking with a multimeter gives 0v.

Where would he have to measure on the pack without causing a fire?

If you read more carefully, it clearly says:

  • LIPO/LiFe - 1-6S
  • NiMH/NiCd - 1-15S

Your 12s battery is NOT a NiMh/NiCd, it is li-ion. That charger will only charge li-ion type batteries of 1-6S . Therefore you cannot charge your 12s battery with this 6s charger.

Read more, and buy a brick charger appropriate for your battery.

I mean yes I read that, but I know for a fact you can charge lipos with the other setting, not it is definitely not recommended or safe by any means but can be done to bring cells back to life, that’s why I asked, since there is a battery management in place with these cells I wasn’t sure if it would accept the power and dispense it accordingly.

He should meassure on battery main negative with one probe and on battery main positive with another probe. Look at photo:

And he should not worry, he can not cause fire only meassuring voltage.
If he gets 30-42v from those spots, its probably bms fault. However, I would meassure each groups voltage to see if bms is shuting down because one group is too low. He can meassure each groups voltage on balance tabs, so he doesn’t have to dismantle whole battery

Nope, won’t work. The maximum voltage output of a 6s charger is ~25 volts (6x4.2). To charge your 12s pack, you need double that: 12x4.2, or 50.4 volts.

NiMh/NiCd batteries have a much lower cell voltage - 1.5 vs 3.7 for Li-ion cells. That means for the same given maximum voltage the charger can put out, you can have more in series - 15 as it turns out.

I find it easier to put down an initial answer quickly, then add on more info as I think of it rather than taking like ten minutes to write the whole thing first.

What is the difference between Trampa HS11 and Carve deck ride wise?

hs11 is wider and longer and sits lower to the ground.

I saw those but it looks like have a pulley will be a problem??

Any advice on where I can start or where too start :man_shrugging:t4:

I don’t know. Every suspension type truck I’ve heard about except the Baja Board has had bad reviews. As I’m not interested in this, I haven’t pursued it further.

But at a miminum, the truck that is supporting that thing MUST have a NOT-round profile. Otherwise it can just slip around when you hit a bump as it’s relying on grub screws.
