Archived: the OG noob question thread! 😀

So I understand they are keepers
Now my problem is that since I made my pneumatic trampa, I can’t stand my urethane build. It annoys the shit out of me when I get on it

Edit: for some really fucking weird reason, it’s a 39t

Edit#2: the belt is 11mm wide

Actually those look like ABEC11 pulley teeth and not clone ABEC11 pulley teeth.

Even better. Those are keepers, or put them up for sale.

I have been looking at gear ratios and i still don’t understand. I am looking at gear drives and moonbug offers these ratio’s for AT drives
4.89
4.4
4.0
3.67
3.14
Now i know you have calculators to calculate the ratios but when you already have the ratio how do calculate the teeth?
I know the higher the ratio= more torque but how am i to decide which ratio is best for me?

Can someone recommend a rather cheap FOC capable single Motor Vesc?

you could use this calculator I set up for download…

Thank you. is there not a more simple way? not matter what % value i put It would not go above a 3.0 gear ratio so that does not help me understand why moonbug offers 4.89 gear ratio?

10% should be entered 0.1 or 25% should be entered 0.25… did you try it this way?

also the recommended ratio is greatly affected by the tire size, chosen battery amp limit per motor, and slope %… larger tires will result in larger reduction ratios.

160mm wheels.
60 amp

w/ 4 motors you can go pretty fast

But what are the different gears for?
What is the big difference between a 4.89 and 3.14 ratio??
I want quite a bit of torque but a top speed of at least 45km/h

the calc shows what gear goes the max possible speed up slope… if you use a higher ratio than that you’ll get more acceleration and efficiency but less up slope top speed capability.

understood thanks!

Does anyone know if you can buy trampa blank decks straight from the US without having to pay shipping from the UK?

What’s the benefit of the TB218mm trucks over the regular caliber 2 trucks?

Except it being able to mount bigger dual motors.

So gear ratio 101

There is the motor gear and wheel gear. Count the teeth on the 2 gears, let’s say the motor has 12 and the wheel has 44.

44/12 = 3.67 gear ratio.

Higher gear ratio = more torque and lower top speed. Faster acceleration.

Lower gear ratio = exact opposite. Think of this as the high gears on your bike or car. Good for going fast, not accelerating.

So howcome 12mm belts is not an option here?
