what’s a safe Max Braking REGEN current for 10s5p LG MH1 cells?

• Model: INR18650MH1
• Manufacturer: LG Chemical
• Country of Origin: South Korea
• Chemistry: INR/NCA
• Max. continuous discharge current: 10A
• Nominal capacity: 3200 mAh
• Nominal voltage: 3.6 V
• Discharge end voltage: 2.5 V
• Charging voltage: 4.20 +/- 0.05 V
• Standard charging current: 1550 mA
• Max charging current: 3100 mA
  for some reason I can’t grasp the concept of this Max braking regen and Max brake current. I’ve read material on this subject but it’s not clicking for me.

Because braking is done in short burst you can be advised to set it to a larger value.

Typically the high regenerative charge rates achieved by smashing the brakes at a high speed will be so ephemeral that they won’t upset the cells.

If sustained, a charge rate that high could definitely be an issue. But once you start braking hard, you immediately begin losing the momentum that would be needed to sustain such hard braking.

Set it to whatever you need to get brakes that are strong enough to stop you as you wish.

So long as you’re not being towed by a car with the brakes on, you’ll be fine.

“Battery minimum current” is braking strength at higher speeds
“Motor minimum current” is braking strength at lower speeds
