are you @Mikenopolis are you old enough to identify with that kid from Fresh out the boat? not being racist, I am half chinese and although I did not live in the US that show reminds me of us when we were kids sometimes.
I was the only Asian in elementary school in Denver. I was bullied…by an Indian (feather kind) named Eagle and a Mexican named Juan of all people…talk about stereotypical names. We kinda became friends three years later. Kids are ruthless as I learned about their “unfortunate” ethnicity and was racist towards them which brought us closer, effed up, I know.
I’m kinda big for an Asian person, so places with small percentage of Asian demographic often stare and eventually ask that “what are you?” question. I also get that “what do you eat question”. My cousin-in-law tends to date white guys from the Midwest and boy do they get confused because I’m big and fluent in English when they expected Short Round from Indiana Jones or Mr. Chow.
It’s FOA damn it, not FOB
Airplane…or should I say Aeroplane as I was taught by HK’s proper British English? I was totally that kid. Same rap and hip-hop taste too ![]()
Dammit, I meant to write Fresh OFF the boat but yeah aeroplane works too.
Same for me, even had the same pump rebook
Please don’t fuck up Hong Kong…
I love Hong Kong!
I think the bars on Lockhart road will be fine.
You probably don’t remember the OLD airport… I do… I could smoke anything ANYWHERE… and it was terrifying flying through all the buildings and laundry on final approach…
Fast forward to the day the NEW airport opened… I was snoozing as we landed…walked out of the jetway, ask asked myself, self, where in the fuck are you… I didn’t know and didn’t recognize the place… I thought i musta been rerouted or got on the wrong plane somehow…
After i figured it out… I needed to smoke… Looked for the smoking rooms… Nada Tostada… They hadn’t opened them up yet…
Snuck behind a kiosk… Lit one up… And a security guard came around the corner… He lit one up as well and we smoked the smoke of guilty men.
Never had the chance to use the old airport, but i was told it was terrifying.

Man the smoking rooms there… you don’t even need to lite your cigarette.
The securtity guy smoking inside, I can’t say that I ever saw that in the HK airport. ![]()
I remember that old airport. My aunt lived in a build that was right under the flight path. It got so close to the rooftop. I remember coming out of that airport and it smelling like sewage
I miss the old airport, and the old Hong Kong!
Please don’t fuckitup people!
I just noticed you’re located in Socal. Haha I feel like eventually, all Asians find themselves in Socall at one point or another.
Hey that was me too! I was the token non-Caucasian kid in my class through elementary school!
Yeah I was definitely a big kid growing up. My parent’s were of the Chinese famine generation so despite growing up poor, food/nutrition and health was often the #1 priority. Ironically, that involved eating a lot and I was overweight and borderline obese most of my childhood. I definitely did get bullied over that but luckily it was never paired with me being Asian. Unfortunately my eczema (which it seems like applies mostly to Asian kids) was another point of bullying that did get tied to me being Asian. I ended up getting call the guy with the old Asian man hands from the scarring that came with having eczema. Kids are absolutely ruthless
Hey! I am flying out to Hong Kong today, I was wondering if some people are there during this period, and/have some free time to hang around talking about electric skateboard.
There are some sick mountain roads there to eskate on. Better have a good uphill board.
Watch out for the street racers though. They tend to come out at night.
