We stayed in Wan chai. Glad I got time to go and see Kowloon etc, amazing place
I always stay in Kowloon directly next to the pier. Tsim Sha Tsui Station
Kowloon, specifically Jordan, holds the record for the most amount of times I have been propositioned by prostitutes in a 1 hour span, and I have been to some shit holes let me tell you
Never had that happen to me… you must be a handsome lad…
I only get approached by random Indian guys trying to sell certain “goods”
I understand that your experiences will dictate your opinions. Not tryin to get too serious here duder. But I’m having a hard time understanding your definition of “doing fine”. If doing fine by definition for you means not being a depressed commy country then you need to give me a call the next time you are in town. Because you may have went to the wrong side of town.
I was talking about mainland China
I was working in wuzhou I never experienced a more racist, unfriendly total control state ever in my life. Most shops wouldn’t serve me and people would push me away and the work was just awful there.
The only hobby that males have is smoking as many cigarettes as possible per day…
What a life
I couldn’t agree more.
I went to Shenzhen for a day to get a cheap laptop for CNC work, and the mall I was in, reeks of cigs. They smoke in there… what.
Yep I know you meant China. Granted Wuzhou isn’t the best place to represent China as it’s only a third tier city…hahah I’d think that place is pretty miserable too. I guess for a white dude it can be pretty annoying. They start pointing calling you white and amongst many unfriendly things. Just different culture different humour.
Yep ppl smoke just gotta get over it.
In the nicer shopping malls they don’t smoke though.
I think @LR-designs might be in Hong Kong
The younger generations are getting better for sure but honestly the only real nice Chinese people I met on all my travels always later turned out to be from Taiwan or Hong Kong.
Of course that was just my experience and I might also be traumatized by the Chinese tourists that I experienced in their full glory…
Singapore iirc
No waaaaaay, that’s where i’m from, i would’ve known haha
My bad he is in HK
This is just sad to see. A lot of my family moved to the UK, and US in the 80’s because they thought China was going to do this right when Hong Kong was handed back to China.
I visited Hong Kong for the first time since early childhood. I think it was 2014, It’s changed… you can totally tell who is from mainland China and who’s a local HongKong-er. There’s a certain level of cringy behavior from the mainland people that’s just apparent.
Oh dude you need steel toe shoes walking around mainland tourists in HK. When I first got back I was walking around in my rainbow sandals. Learnt quickly that chinese tourists with suitcases do not give a single fuck about your toes.
Yeah I am in Hong Kong. But honestly I would not even know about these protests if people did not talking about them. I don’t go on facebook or watch any news and live far from the island.
Although I did get half a day off last week because of it.
It’s only dangerous if your getting involved.
Update: The protests are still going on and getting more an more out of hand.
It’s really getting crazy. Entire large malls have had all the glass smashed and road have been blocked.
I have not been in any danger but have missed half a weeks work due to shutdowns in public transport and blocked roads.
All the train stations have been boarded up with metal sheet to prevent window smashing, and businesses that are affiliated with china have done that also. Its making the city look apocalyptic.

It’s good you have a nice board to ride around the city even if it is in large civil unrest. I can imagine it’s quite tense when protests are happening nearby.
You couldn’t be more maneuverable and low key, seems like a great tool to have when the rest of society is stopped.
Please stay safe! It’s a beautiful city and it breaks me to see it in this situation now.
I just heard that a lot of the international students in hongkong are being pulled out. My sisters friend got an email a few days ago from her university that literally said “Here’s $1000, buy a plane ticket back asap” :o
