Also worth pondering is the overall weight of the backpack. More often than not, a heavier backpack, which is made of tougher fabric and has a beefy frame, is engineered to carry a heavier load.
That said, there are lightweight skateboard backpacks that are capable of hauling a lot of stuff.
Technically you are right but you also have to consider how the backpack is constructed and where the weight is distributed.
For most eskate backpacks the weight of the board when strapped is isolated to the back/board carrying panel and not the main compartment. The weight of the board strapped will be distributed across the shoulder/chest/hip straps. The main compartment does add to the overall carrying weight of the backpack but it is independent of the board carry compartment as well.
So more than just fabric and frame, it is how the backpack is designed to spread the load on the wearer that makes it capable of hauling a heavier load.
When’s the next restock btw?
Apologies for the late reply. Currently working on some updates to the Native Backpacks so the next update will take some time before it is ready for order. Probably in a month or two!
Hi Everyone!
Introducing our latest update to the Arca Accessories Pack!
Now in a Midnight Black colorway, we added a couple additional features that you our customers have been asking for!
We increased the amount of padding in the secondary compartment even more protection against vibrations and accidental falls.
Added a photo reflective strip around the pack to help with visibility while riding, especially at night.
Included an additional shoulder strap to increase portability when the pack is not strapped to your board.
Introduced a new anti slip grip to the ladder attachment system on the rear of the pack to limit the amount of movement when the pack is strapped onto your board.
If you require, additional dividers and shoulder straps, they can also be purchased separately.
With these new features, the Arca Accessories Pack provides even more flexibility for riders, to use it together with a backpack or just strap it to your electric skateboard, carry the essential items and go for a ride without bringing along a backpack!
The Arca Accessory Pack in Midnight Black is available now on our website. So if you are interested do check it out here for more information!
In the meantime stay safe and healthy everyone!

Hi Everyone!
A huge shout out to every who supported us thus far! We have received tremendous support for our products from the electric skateboarding community and even from manual boards riders as well.
We would like to take this opportunity to announce that our Native Backpacks are now back in stock! We also introduced a couple of minor upgrades to the design for added functionality.
Besides minor improvements in built quality, we increased the thickness of the padding in the shoulder straps for more comfort. The integrated helmet cover is now removable via zipper, allowing for more flexibility for the use of the front pocket and easier replacement. Last but not least we added 4 (2 on each side) buckles to the side of the backpack to help fasten down items stored in the side pockets and to keep the backpack compact.
These minor updates help provide additional functionality to the Native Backpack for your electric skateboarding, as well as day to day carry needs.
The Native Backpack in Dove Grey, Gunmetal and Midnight Black is now available on our website. So if you are interested do check out our website

Received my maxi sized alterbag today and I gotta say – this thing is huge! Regretting I didn’t get the smaller option now… I also saw the Arca accessory bag in real life, and it is pretty chonky as well!
Will use it daily for a few weeks and post a short review I guess.
My only 2 minor complaints currently are that the rubber handle is pretty meh, and the helmet bag expands so much that I had to tighten the straps to their minimum, despite using an XL TSG-pass, which is as large as helmets come I believe. I don’t think adjustable straps are needed for the helmet bag, is what I’m saying
How did you fit your flux in the bag? It seemed too large for my bag to close when I tried with @Rudi today
I’ll go try mine when I get home for ya. And throw my mac book in it as well
The arca isn’t so bad on the flux with such a large plate form. I did carve that first day with one
Note: I have one of the early arcas I think. The black one has some improvements
Sorry for the late reply. Have been away from the forums for abit!
Thanks for the feedback! For the helmet situation some times we tend to switch between full face and half shells so some form of adjustment was added to give some customizability. Usually we fill the bag up with out gear and it helps lock the helmet in place too.
As for fitting the flux, we tested them using the original flux using the samsung 30q cells i think. The newer flux might have a slight design change with a bigger battery enclosure? If so, Id recommend to add the extension zipper sold separately, those will help add some clearance for bigger boards like your Kalys and Lacroix and maybe flux.
Review time!
Things I love:
- So much space!
- Very nice way of carrying your board on rainy days / while walking through a shopping mall.
- Helmet holder can hold any of my helmets!
- Nice pocket sizes and placement! I usually hold my wallet in one of the side pockets, and use the small internal pocket for small things I always want with me but don’t want taking up space, like a spare usb cable, skate tool, lens cloth, etc.
- The side pocket to get access into the bag can be quite useful.
- Bottle holders are large enough to fit the large-size LTT water bottle, assuming your bag isn’t packed completely full.
- High quality zippers! YES!
- The waist straps can be tucked into tiny compartments on the bag! So on most days they’re out of the way, but in the 1% of cases where I need them to prevent the bag from flying around (like when I ride my mountain-board), I can use them!
- Bag is very stylish! The reflectors on the front look so good imo
Things I wish were different:
- See that clip between the main shoulder-straps in the picture above? I’ve never used it. I wish it were removable. Actually, I think I might just clip the middle plastic piece and then it would be removable
- The straps on the side of the bag are just there to make the bag compact when it’s empty. But I’m too lazy to adjust them constantly. I wish they weren’t there, and instead the bag just had some internal elastics to keep the bag compact when empty.
- I wish the back of the bag had more reflective material. The sides definitely help, especially since we ride skateboards, but I’d love to see the Alterbags logo also be reflective
Things I dislike:
- Bag is quite heavy.
- Bag is really large and hard to store in small lockers. This main, cardboard structure that acts as a support – I wish it didn’t exist.
-
The main, rubber handle of the bag constantly falls downwards when putting on the bag, and then you can feel it in your back. The handle itself is also poor quality – very flimsy, and you can see the rubber breaking away. If the cardboard structure stays, then the handle needs to be relocated above it so that it can flop away from you I think.
-
My laptop compartment broke within the first few days. Maybe it’s because I often carry 2 laptops with me, but the stitching thread doesn’t seem very strong to begin with.
Overall thoughts:
This is my favorite back-pack I’ve ever owned! And I’ve owned some nice bags before:
(If this bag didn’t get permanently damaged and stained I’d probably still be using it)
I often wish I had gone for the smaller option, but on the days when I have my backpack full with my laptop, charger, board charger, board battery, gym clothes and more – I’m really glad I can fit it all into 1 backpack and continue living my car-free lifestyle And although 99% of the time I don’t carry any board with my bag, the 1% of the time I do makes it worth it imo.
Anyway, I’m going to continue using this bag, and I hope that some of my complaints get addressed, because I know that eventually I will have a fall or something and destroy this bag, and I will definitely want to buy a new one!
Thanks for the feedback! Will definitely take into consideration moving forward into the future!
