All new 2019 vesc-tool

Doh! Of course. He calls it a Direct Drive so I got confused.

The gearing is 1:4 but I don’t know the exact size of the gears. @NoWind?

Yeah, there’s a lot of that cross-naming.

Just realised I can set it directly if I know the ratio.

I guess 4 would be the right setting for 1:4 ratio?

Yes, 4 is correct in that case.

Thanks.

I feel like I just reverted to ‘noob’ status.

Benjamin bangs on a major update and will probably finish it over the next weekend.
Logging feature, self balancing feature, bug fixes etc.
Till then VESC Tool 1.19 and FW 3.61 will stay the most recent FW.
Unfortunately FW 3.61 does not allow REVERSE mode with the Wand remote. Only Smart Reverse works. I hope everyone has the patience to wait till next week for a FIX.

This is a link to the VESC-Tool 1.18 for Windows, allowing reverse functionality in combination with the Wand. https://send.firefox.com/download/11dd27828ce1bcfd/#4VEK2W1TnGscdOzWFL0AGQ

Is there a way to adjust the speed of the slow reverse? I can only see duty cycle as an adjustable setting.

Sure, just top up duty cycle.

If you set the smart reverse option then there’s a percentage of power setting for the reverse at the bottom. Its defaulted to 7%.

The logging is still cleared after each time the VESC disconnects from the app right?

Any chance of adding an option to have the app remember the ride stats even after disconnection?

Making running apps like Strava redundant for us rider

I spoke to Vedder about this a couple of weeks ago and he said he could do that but would have to have a VESC tool service running alongside the app and it was fairly complicated but " logging in background with screen off" sounds like he has gone and done that? @Trampa can you confirm? That would be awesome

He has nailed that. Only GPS is sometimes trickey. GPS is by default not allowed to track you with screen off. Ben knows a sollution but you might need to confirm that you are ok with this sort of tracking.

If the app is indeed possible to log the ride mileage and keep them within the app, I am ok with the GPS thing

Can’t wait for it to go live :+1:

There is no upload, its all on your phone only.
Android Apps are simply not supposed to run the GPS in the background as standard.
However, you want to ride with your screen switched off and then later have a logging file on your phone that includes GPS position.

Do you know if this works with this flipsky Bluetooth module? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.it%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F133102036574

Connection to phone should work if the FW is relative up to date.
Don’t know if you can update these with ease.

do you know if we need an active data connection? The only android phone I have is a POS with no sim in it. I only bought it to connect to the nrf module.

I have a nokia 3 with no sim. Skate Phone…
Works just fine for me.
