AL does CAD stuff sometimes, you can too

Gonna use this thread as a dumping ground for my CAD that doesn’t fit elsewhere, not unlike @SpeedDemon’s amazing thread here - random CAD Dump update 4/7/21 although mine will be a lot less amazing.

To kick things off, here is my 18s4p peli 1200 frame design as requested by @slizer18

18s4p.3mf (1.1 MB)
18s4p v1.step (1.5 MB)

I remember there was like. That triangle for a smart BMS that one time.

I was so pleased with that part. Filleting in Tinkercad can go fuck itself tho

That was one of the first parts i ever designed, and like most of my designs, the core idea was shamelessly plagiarised

I think this was the build it was made for… - The Rocket - AKA The Baby Kaly - Street Carvers - FreeSK8

It would be cool to tell an AI to design a part and it comes up with a dozen options to pick from.

There’s generative design options in fusion to do stuff like that i’m pretty sure. And i’d be surprised if there isn’t already other options as well.

Definitely a good use of AI, but to clarify, this thead is about my cad, AL

DeePBeeF is fully realised!!

DEEPBEEFTOPSHELL.3mf (275.6 KB)
DEEPBEEFBOTSHELL.3mf (615.2 KB)
DeePBeeF.step (1.5 MB)

KEY_2.3mf (245.5 KB)

Let me know if you make one!!

i’m sorry for the edit, i was looking to see if this was compatible with the puck 2, i know some of the other shells needed to be reworked for puck 2

isn’t there a puck2 thread?

does it need a new thread for printed cases?

theres the original thread for the puck shells but the only one i could definitively tell was updated for puck 2 was the one from doug. I couldn’t see another thread specifically about the puck 2

This case will definitely not work for puck 2

thank you so much for the reply. Any plans for a puck 2 case?

Likely not but I can’t completely discount it.

understood, thanks for the replies.

I finally took my Puck 2 case out in the real world (on the Sand Runner!) and I decided that the action isn’t quite right - the wheel needs to be about 10 degrees closer to the back of the handle

I think it’s because of the shape of the thumbwheel but it’s a little counter-intuitive because where normally I have my thumb on top of a circular wheel with this one I push on the edge of the protrusion. So you’d think it should be farther away, but then when I go to brake I need to pull on the other edge of the protrusion.

My thumb doesn’t seem to like to be directly on top.

I thought about going back to the original thumbwheel to see if that fixes it, but since the return spring on this one is much (much!) stronger than the original return spring I don’t think that will end well.

Anyway, look for another rev at some point in the next month or so.

On the other hand since Hoyt is no longer in business you might not be able to get Puck 2’s anyway.
