Acedeck Nyx Z3 or something else?

My diy board I had alongside my Z3 was 18s6p p45b pack, 151kv motors @ 130A. Fast as hell, but I never thought the Z3 was lacking power in any way. I actually thought the 14S pack and the ESC setup was a great daily rideable setup.

i weight 215 pounds at and i am not tall , with binding no problem ! , i want to lose 40 pounds maybe after it will be to much , but for now i like the acceleration ,

yes rideable setup , but for more pleasure i think i will go 4wd with the z3

Board arrived today, looks really well made with great details.

Only had time for a quick test but immediately found a problem, I can barely get this thing to turn without bindings, it is stiff AF! I’ll swap out the red bushing in the rear with a white one like the front to see if that helps but I came across this interesting video comparing the carving abilities of the Horizon vs the Z3. The difference seem to be the size and shape of the plate that the bushings press against so that may be a future mod.

Swapping out the rear red bushing for the white made all the difference, carves nicely now. All the snow just melted of course but now we have mud so I was able to try that, the stock tires do not cut it in mud, probably not in snow either. Not so much the traction as the width, they dug down in the mud and left me high centered in the rear, probably need something wider like the MBS tires, (or tracks), for more flotation.

it depend your ride style, maybe is it great at low speed, but not great at top

I need maneuverability in the woods more than I need top speed stability. I’ll probably never go above 30 even on the road. Also I think the red is better for a heavier person.

The lights came in, really high quality, haven’t mounted them yet.

So I was wondering if the stock Z3 hubs could take the wider MBS Explorer 200 x 70 tire if I made a spacer to make the rim wider?

I’m not sure if those tires fit on a normal 200mm bead or if they sit on the larger bead normally used by 9” tires

Website says: Hub Opening: 3.8" diameter (97mm)

What’s a normal 200mm bead?

Cant find the spec for the Acedeck tire but 200mm Mud Plugger says 3.75" wheel, I assume the 0.05" difference would be in spec?

take a caliper to mesure it , mine still on rim of the z3 right now but they look like regular mbs all terrain tire

Turns out my idea probably won’t work anyway because the spacer would move the inside of the tire too far in and would hit the gear drive.

Unrelated, is there no phone app to interface with the ESC and change settings? Would the Hobbywing app work?

Unlike earlier versions of the board I’ve seen mine did not come with holes in the shock preload adjusters to insert an Allen wrench or small screwdriver to use for turning them. This makes it impossible to turn them without disassembling the suspension arms to get pliers on them. I’ll probably be drilling my own holes but this is a bit of a fail on Acedeck’s part in my opinion.

That’s crazy… no hex hole for a wrench? I’d email Acedeck about that. Probably a bad batch of preload screws.

Yes I plan to mention it to them.

Acedeck says they changed the shock design and there is a special wrench to adjust them. They’ll send me one if I want it…um yeah, kinda need it…

Apparently they do not have an app for the board, need to do everything through the remote, which is kind of annoying, especially at this price point.

acedeck wheel inside width is 50.1mm , 3.50 inch diameter,

yes they have special patern for the wheel bolt but you can still use 17mm rachet socket like i still do with locktite because i don’t trust the tool

so am lucky the holes are there
