A Different Type of Flux ----- 4WD TKP 6 Shooter

Shake down ride went well. 13 miles of what felt like 20-30mph (and Strava reaffirms) took the pack from 4.1 to. 3.7 p group voltages so I’m still estimating 20 Miles of range, maybe one or two more. No loosescrews yet.

So I rode this thing for most of Carvepdx and it did great. Ran out of battery at one point and got towed. In the last day halfway through the ride it began locking up the right front wheel and then working properly when I applied throttle after zero input. Idk if the TB ESC’s flash lights for faults but all were blue as normal.

I will put my Bluetooth on that esc and see. Maybe need to redo detection.

I can confirm this fact.

really lucky my board did not decide that was it’s time to break.

Standard diy esk8 behavior proceed shredding.

Did motor detection and had insane numbers for one and wouldn’t pass. Checked it out and found loose phase wires. I re-shrininked them and thoroughly secured them with a type of tape. Definitely not electrical tape…

It detected properly that time but no flux linkage number was shown for the problematic one. and shakes like crazy with power applied. No faults still but my next step is to test the motor for shorts (undo my tape) or/ convert to 2wd until I replace a motor. Probably not the esc.

How mine was acting up once I cornered the issue. Are you on 5.3 or 5.2?

I forget that low charge can cause detection problems. Juicing it up right now. Here’s to hoping that helps with anything.

I’ve also been detecting with the belt on, perhaps I’ll try with it off as well.

Kinda want to rethink my enclosure spacer/gasket as well.

Charging to 4 volts per group did the trick and everything seems to be in line. all 4 wheels spin as they should! Looks like I’ve got a cool skateboard again.

Sweet build! When doing 4wd, is doing longer phase wires preferred over longer battery wires?

yep this exactly, think of the motor stator coil wire lengths.

you can twist your battery wire to make it less noisy as well.

Still need to extend those front phase wires a couple inches but yesterday I scouted out a route to work. Think I found a good one about 9 miles each way. Takes about 45min going slow and steady. The hard part will be waking up 30 minutes earlier.

No need to rethink your enclosure-seal. I have a 12S9P (Samsung50E 21700) build on me Flux, so it was also a little bit too big for the enclosure. Bought a extra gasket from Flux (so 2 now on there) and this works great.

Also i read a lot about your enclosure bolts coming loose ; try riding 2,5cm bolts; they will NEVER come loose :+1: (but easily come out when wanting to work under the hood

:point_up_2: no need for those fancy caps btw …

I saw them on Monsterbuilder’s “Fuck-Cancer” build (in black) and my wallet started itching…

Haha thank you Sir

I’ll plan to do a 2 year update on my build sometime this winter!

I chose screws appropriately long to hold the enclosure on with some compression of the foam gasket. Don’t remember the length but I got lucky with ones I had around already. And I had an assortment of blue and pink fender washers so I spruced it up a little. And the bolts are flathead so they would dig into the ABS without them.

I ordered another two Venom Magnum pulleys so I can swap the 6 shooters with nice urethane. Wonder how much of a hassle it will be. Might swap the axles to boardnamics at some point too to make it easier but not sure about lengths. This isn’t exactly a common setup.

Exited to ride these wheels again and the better power consumption would be nice on the commutes. The main thing keeping me from riding so often is using up a full 12s5p to get to work and back. And the roads are not so bad.

Damn I know this feel, I had a 12s4p and would barely make it. If it was an especially windy day it gets even more sketch whether I’ll make it.

In the progress of adding a couple risers for wheel clearance with the 6 shooters and some height for the urethanes. With an extra .75 inch it feels a lot higher but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

I need some different hardware though. I have some wierd pan head screws with massive washers (looks diy for sure) but want flat head for the DAVEGA mount and or fender washers. Kinda sus about how long some of these screws gotta be but what ever.
