But you probably can’t use a different receiver (say, one you already have) with this remote, right? You need to buy this receiver in order to use the remote. $99 is for a replacement remote, after you’ve bought the full price kit already. I know there are a lot of people championing this remote because it is somewhat community based, and that’s great, but there is no need to be misleading.
Does the $99 version have the exact same internals as the $169 version? I believe only functionality is mentioned.
But what are we up in arms about? 115$ is an absolute steal for the same internals and functionality as the original. And yes, I’ve confirmed it’s the same internals.
I don’t understand your issue with this. It’s not misleading. As I said before, they are not the only company that separate the remote from the receiver as a products. I understand the dislike of the concept but attack the concept not just one company that is practicing it.
My understanding is that the internals are the same in both versions of the Puck remote, only case differs. The cost difference is because bamboo is much more expensive to source and process that nylon is.
Haha cmon guys it’s the littlest price difference for a high quality product. Sometimes it’s actually worth spending money for something that’s the best
I dont get that either. I am asking why your upset that the remote and receiver are separated from a marketing stand point? I agree that is irritating, but I don’t think it’s misleading. Many people by one remote and 2 or 3 receivers so they can use a single remote across multiple boards.
No, I agree with you that lots of manufacturers have the receiver for sale separately, of course that makes sense. What I think is misleading is marketing their main remote product as remote, no receiver.
Other manus probably do the same thing, I’m not a fan of that either.
We can differ on this, I’ma let it slide.
Also, I’ll probably buy a Puck, because I like everything about it except the price.
Also should be noted they aren’t a DIY esk8 vendor. They sell pre built boards. Its a replacement for thier customers. We just happen to buy them and put them on our boards.
lol all this discussion reminds me of the old 2010 ebay days. Everyone was listing items for $0.99 but the shipping was $75 (Or however much the item ACTUALLY cost)
It got so bad ebay had to add a “sort by price+shipping lowest” sort option which still exists to this day.
But I do agree with ryend, better to stick with one standard so price can be more easily compared. (Pretty sure you can buy the mini remote split up from the receiver, maybe the VX1, etc)
but at the end of the day, $114 is still a good price
