6396 vs. 80100 motors

I’m a Huge guy and i need some torque setup. Can be those Motors comparable or should I choose the 80100s for riding?

Also who has experience with 6396 or 63100+?

6396 is garbage, overheats instantly, plus other issues. It’s a 30 amp rated motor.
what 80100? maytech?

Tried lots of different motors and TB6380 was the best performer for me.

The reason you see so few people using motors this large, aside from the weight, is that most have a 12mm shaft. Which is huge, so you need massive pulleys. The other more crucial reason is that etoxx may be the only one who makes mounts for them. The bolt pattern is M5 vs M4 of most 55/63 motors and is a wider diameter than standard motors bolt to.

I have a CNC mill for the Motor mounts… But need a big Truck i guess.

I’m 190lbs + gear currently running a Maytech 6396 single setup 65 motor amps max with 6" wheels at a 16/44 gear ratio, which definitely puts some strain on the motor and while my motor does get hot, it doesn’t overheat unless I’m just dogging it.

That’s on airless wheels and riding on streets/paved paths, so if you’re talking about an All Terrain setup, it’s a different story entirely. .

6396 user here too. Doesn’t overheat at all. Tons of power. Ofc I have removed the front bearings to aid some cooling. Fuck it. They live till they don’t. :man_shrugging:

They do. User experience / reviews about MT 6396s are a very mixed bag. If someone collected data in a table with info like KV, purchase date, gearing ratio, etc. I’m sure we could figure out what exactly the issue is.

If you’re a lightweight, don’t ride too fast and never ride in 30c+ ambient temperature - sure, they are great motors :rofl:

I weigh 200 pounds (100kg) and use them with a 12s8p off road. What point are you trying to prove? 500km no problems so far… :unamused:

I would suggest an MTB for motors that big, just so they’re not right next to the ground with how fat they are. MBS trucks are good for that.

Only skate trucks I think that will take them are boardnamics 270mm, the chinesium DKP 14". Anything else will be 10,12mm axel. Might even fit the 56115 motors.

56116s fit on 270s with belt drive, not gear drives. Most of the inrunners also use the 6x30mm bolt pattern.

I have APS 63100 on a dual setup. They don’t have sensors but I run HFI. They are great, but it’s a 10mm axle and the kv is quite low at 130kv. You have the new APS 63105 that are the same as the 63100 but with sensors, but the extra length worries be since support is minimal on the extremity of the Can. Like there’s one bearing where the plate is for mounting it on the mount and 2 bearings on the other end, but I would totally recommend upgrading bearings to some NSK DD 61800 (sealed and the rubber seal doesn’t Touch the bearings so runs smooth :ok_hand:

Kinda off topic but what about the 6880 bioboards motors? Are these any good, haven’t installed them yet.

Seems like they introduce more problems than something like a reliable 6376 while offering similar power. Overall, ppl seem disappointed in them like they often do w/ the 6396 motors. I’m not sure how much having a sealed can matters for motor longevity, but the extra heat it brings along definitely isn’t good for them or you if you’re pushing up against their limits.

The big advantage of those over something more conventional is having that skirt bearing you can see in the above photo. That helps a lot to prevent bent shafts or loose cans, especially in a heavy vibration environment like esk8.
