Assuming you mean the wheel gear bolt holes:
I imagine you’re measuring from reference points. You ought to be measuring center to hole distance and doing a circular pattern to evenly space them perfectly around the center point.

@DEEIF like what @Venom121212 says, I’m using a cylinder as a central reference point that I then revolve a bolt hole around.
It can be tedious.

Oh man, I feel very stupid now
I was doing it a much harder and less accurate way. Thanks Mike!
The align tool (control L) and orthogonal views are your friends.
Early, sober post guise.
I’m losing my shit trying to make gears work. 2020 just ain’t the year for 8 pinions, 4 hub gears.
Imperial, diametral pitch RC car results flood my google search queries when I hunt for off the shelf bits.
Yes, there are some metric gears, lots of vendors are out of stock. Sendcutsend won’t cut the pinion 20t module 1.5 gear bc the smallest features approach minimum something-something.
Vendors exist in the UK for vex robotics style interchangeable gearing in metric, but they are usually backordered and the wait is nearly as bad as buying from China. (Sorry APS and those who won’t be named).
I’m doing belts damnit. I have all the shit to do it before New Years.
Who needs lé special grease and gear covers? If belts can take what I’m putting down on 4wd, 8 will be a walk in the park.
Barrett junction is coming in nearly 40 days. Cancelled or not (thank you Californians who can’t wear a fucking mask
) , I’m going, with 8 motors on the damn deck, spinning wheels or not. Maybe propellers if I ruin this.

Man, this is fucking nuts. I can’t wait to see this in person. I’m going to Barrett Junction just to see this board even though it’ll probably be from behind all the way up. Lol.
Dammit… I thought it wasn’t until May
This boards gonna give the stooge guys a run for their money
r/outoftheloop what race is/was this?
It’s a downhill event traditionally and the organizers let us esk8 plebs join in. The road is pretty sketch though. The dudes riding it downhill on urethane have balls of steel. It’s pretty sweet though. The last time I was there Justin went over the hill right before my eyes near the finish line. I thought he was done for.
Damn those guys are nuts
Thats the better view anyway ![]()
Take a look on Alibaba for gear suppliers, you will have something better, cheaper and customs however you want
On Aliexpress you can find standard induction hardened steel gears also,
Thanks. I presume you have had an ok experience there? I bought an ultrasound on alibaba once. It actually showed up and was ok. It was the second most expensive thing I’ve ever bought online. (1. Bajaboard, 3. Boostedboard
).
This aside, it all looks so scammy.
Yeah I have, can’t give you exactly names, but there is a lot of suppliers
On Ali I’ve bought some gears for my first gear drive that never happened
I’ve bought from these guys, but looks like there is a lot less models than it had a few years ago
I’ve never been to California. I have a list of things I wanna see and this board is on it, and so are you lol
Are you worried about the belts skipping during heavy breaking and acceleration?
Isn’t there basically 2x as much torque per wheel as with 4 motors, and also much less tooth engagement on the wheel pulley?
Edit: another thing is ive heard belts stretch pretty frequently on 4wd builds, and in this case it might lead to even more slipping.
I really hope this doesn’t come off badly - I just really want to see this thing working!
idk much about them, but maybe chains could be a solution to this problem? They shouldn’t stretch which I think would negate the slipping (maybe?), and they would make this thing look and sound even more baddass!
I would test out how the belts behave with two motors. I assume the second motor in line would receive the slack side of the belt from the previous motor and therefor be more prone to belt skipping. but I guess large motor pulleys, wide belts and tighter belt tension would be tools to combat that if it ever appears to be a problem.
I foresee some problem as it is now, really few teeth in mesh, specially on the wheel pulley
If you look on some crazy ebikes builds, some use 3 motors in series, but I have never seen one that had less than 180° mesh in each and every pulley, using a bunch of idlers to route the belt and make that happen
In a real world scenario this setup doesn’t really work I believe, I already explained it in this thread ![]()
