@Chricious @b264 this is why I can’t have nice things.

I looked at my 3d printer and said “260c? why not 500c. 1 hotend? Why not 4?”

Why not…

I’m with you brother. Why have 2 beers when you can have 8? Or a whole carton for that matter.

I got spoken to about my ‘carton’ consumption today. :unamused:

“Honey, I know ur on vacation, but youre waking up at 1pm, going to bed at who knows when. Also you wake up and are hungover until 4”.

:expressionless: i get spoken to quite a bit. But it never helps.

You’re not starting drinking early enough

I think his goal was 2 motors per wheel FOR REDUANDANCY

Any plan to run helicals in the future?

Once I step my printer game up and if 8 motors ends up being thermally okay with what I can print.

Damn… You think the plastic will hold to up to the abuse?

Red plate getting water cut, straight cut gears exist now. Printing grey housing. White teflon shield exists.

I’m embarrassed I used tinkercad. Fusion 360 with out a CAD background in 2wks while simultaneously getting a feel for 3d printing was more than I could manage.

Stop me if I’m fucking up. This is all new territory for me. @cadguys @Venom121212 @Janux-esk8

Taluman 910 alloy is pretty tough, especially if annealed. You can’t really sand it. Just gotta keep it under 180c during use. They make high temp 910 that has printing extruder temps beyond my current capability.

I used an opencad involute gear generator to check the profile before I added the helical angle.

roast me, I deserve it. I am aware it’s a kindergarten mockup and symmetry is lacking, but the interface made sense and this isn’t exactly next level design. just typical American, “I bet I could fit an LS8 in that import roadster, say I won’t”

I’ve been told…

That the gear profile models in some cad softwares aren’t perfecly accurate.

https://khkgears.net/ has accurate models you can download and use.

Ps that looks amazing dude. I’m loving the progress on this.

yeah +1 the CAD guys have clearly already been on this.

Dude! I suck I know, I owe you a call brotha. Sorry I’ve been semi MIA lately, crazy last month. I love and miss you though! Been wanting to come down to kick it and ride but just haven’t been able too. With that said, permission to cruise down this weekend sir…? Need to see the new pad and you and your ladies faces! Happy belated turkey day, was thinking of you driving through floods last week and us riding in AZ through shit sand storm. LOL. #Ihavepicsforproof.

Anyway, hells ya you got a V2 as well. Looks like we have some of the same upgrades too. LOL. Mine’s been printing non-stop for the last 60 days though. Just got a roll of the taulman 910 im gonna try out later, is it that legit? I need some new abec pulleys to test these hollow wheels out that the creator Doug dropped off to my house last week, they are pretty crazy looking.

Anyway, hmu and Justin and I are down to mob down say… Friyaaaaay? LMK.

Thanks! Sorry I’m the the worst tease with the endless months of, “I’m going to do something cool, …soon”

I’ve watched involute gear geometry tutorials that were drier than good nylon filament. One of my uncles is a mechanical engineer that just does gears. Thats his professional lyfe. Gears.

If I have a terminal condition, I’m going to take community classes on gear geometry to make the days last longer.

:+1::joy:

@Jansen I’m on vacation till the 6th. Let’s ride somewhere where we shouldn’t. I originally intended to drive to SF and fuck around and skate along the way, but Americans and COVID. :unamused::eggplant::eggplant::eggplant:

Also, I’m still at war with my HOA and the contracted tow company.

What a bunch of horseshit. Add this to the growing list of reasons I will never live in an HOA.

Quick question Mike, how did you get all the hole spacing to be correct on tinkercad? It took me forever just to get a couple holes done, I can’t imagine what the gear drive took.
