50mph razor scooter build using esk8 parts

Dude, I would totally take the motor mount! My daughter rides this exact same scooter, and I’d love to convert it to a brushless setup.

This thread is awesome. Pic of my 10 year old:

PS. please keep a log of components that you purchased. I will probably follow your lead at some point.

Oh shit lol. It’ll have to be a 80mm motor. I could easily make you a 63mm version.

Yeah, that would be awesome too. Not sure I’d want her going 50mph anyway

Always this US norms… who the fuck run #25 chains :joy:
I think iso 05b would come close to it, but not sure.
I use gears and sprockets in most cases as they offer custom bore sizes.
For 05b 10T is the lowest for 12mm bore

I‘d check mc master, maybe they do have the right one for you. Optional with standard bore and find somebody to drill the bore to 12mm.

Maybe @rafaelinmissouri does have a better source for custom sprockets state site.

I also hate the US system. But I am not going to find a new wheel sprocket. This is supposed to be a joke project with a small budget. I think in going to bore out something imperial

Thats better

Me…
I am not in love with them necessarily.
Hard to find other options for high gearing.

I’m currently running 10/70
My mount spacing is limited so I just added a half Link… And it scares me.

@jack.luis

No.
I have not scoured the internet.
Mostly got wheel sprockets from eBay.
Motor sprockets have been from eBay from china.
To get sprockets faster I got them from here.

Nothing for 12mm shafts :frowning:
I’m buying this and reboring it

I‘m in the same boat. Unfortunately often there is no other way than using the offset link or sacrifice the gearing.

can you not slightly adjust motor positions? move them along the mount slightly

Or use an idler. This scooter has one

Yeah nah not always enough adjustability.
The bigger the chain size, the more difficult it gets as you need to remove always two links if you shorten the chain.

yeah i see
what are the advantages of larger chains over smaller ones? just durability?

More strong.

Yeah. I don’t have room for an idler…
I like them on my carvers…
I could go to a different mount.
But that is a whole bunch of work…

It is off that I managed to find the very sweet spot in that taking out a whole link makes it too tight… And having that link there was on the loose side…

bigger chain is way stronger, is also harder to skip teeth and less wear. also have a look into automatic linear chain tensioners

Hardcore sleeper build

I ordered one of these lol :

I donno if you’ll get 50mph out of one of those 80100 motors. I used one on my ebike and was really disappointed with the performance, way to much heat output. Pushing any real current brings them over 100C pretty quick. Even after rewinding to 80kv delta I needed a second motor to get the torque up.

I’ll find a way to make it fun I hope

If you gear it down closer to a 30 top speed I think you’ll have more fun with it. But even cruising 25mph on my bike would get to the thermal limits every time I hit small hill. That was on 12s with 120 phase amps, 80 phase amps didn’t over heat as bad but then it felt sluggish.
