3D printables for esk8

this is now the fun with frank thread

Late reply butā€¦

A ā€œfixā€ for it is to just lightly hit it with a heat gun and it vanishes, like magic.

comes from slight deformation of the plastic prying it off the bed when itā€™s ā€œtoo stuckā€ you can just bend a part and get the discoloration.

@Tamatoa I htink you said youā€™d pay $15 shipping? I can chip in another $15 and we can just buy a midnight puck replacement shell to send to @Venom121212.

Iā€™m assuming they are the same as the bamboo shell shape wise though.

I appreciate everything you do and youā€™re a beautiful human being with a vast sea of knowledge and experience butā€¦

Boooooooo

I feel like heā€™d need the PCB to get even better results in shrinking the shell. Iā€™m down to send him my Puck if thatā€™s the case and I can cover shipping. It is I who has the tiny bitch hands anyways

That is correct. Such gears are not standard, they are almost always designed for purpose and drive geometry, resulting in a custom tooth shape.

Mr @DerelictRobot is now part of the corporate world alliance, they got each others back.

:joy: I said 10$ you crook.

The bamboos insides are a bit different than the plastic one.

But @jujo, there is not much room inside the shell, at least in the plastic one. I donā€™t know if there is enough material to shave off so it would be smaller.

Might as just print larger hands :sob:

All cad modeling of helical power transmission Iā€™ve used have a pretty standard profile thatā€™s just made up by formulae related to overall size constraints. Or is the formula-based what you mean by custom?

Often times even those drawings will then be adjusted/optimized by the manufacturer depending on their tooling setups.

The point being is that helical/herringbone are almost always custom by the time you reach end-product, and lack the same sets of constraints that straight gears have due to their inherent complexity. Even a ā€˜mod2.5 helical gear profileā€™ can have 4-5 other completely distinct physical attributes.

Source: I just went through design >> manufacturing both Helical & Herringbone gears for a client.

He was a crook whoā€™s schemes netted him him the loss of $15.00 and an incorrect cad model. he was a bad crook. but a crook none the less.

interesting. whatā€™s the diff? itā€™s still the same board mounted in there I assume?

When I went through a mech course, an instructor told me herringbones were essentially ā€œmatedā€ meaning itā€™s not optimal to mismatch gears because each gear has itā€™s corresponding gear that itā€™s made to be paired with. And how thereā€™s a standardized system such as HTD but nothing for herringbones? Is that true?

 I was joking dude, I will shim in with you. Iā€™d rather have a bamboo one tho but 100$ ouch.

Its all true.

Trampa is better of claiming that the gears are custom designed because thatā€™s what they are. you could send the same spec gear to 5 different gear manufacturers and theyll probably be slightly different.

Even more so with herringbonesā€¦

Iā€™ve put in my order but since I also ordered a wand case as they are outta stock Iā€™m stuck waiting for both and canā€™t ride. Was thinking of a alternative I could use for a week.

Yeah. I was joking too. but I thought you were saying the bamboo was different enough that this wouldnā€™t work. but if it does, letā€™s take this all to a DM with @Venom121212
