WTB Steelbird SBA 2 Helmet

Does anybody know where I can purchase this helmet and have it delivered to the US? I think the situation with covid is responsible for making this seem impossible.

Has planned on purchasing this helmet but now I can’t find it available anywhere.

They had a large on their site a few days ago.

Edit: Still there.

I too, would like one. Maybe we can convince them to send a small group buys worth?

@Venom121212 showed me originally, but I think he got it off of eBay (2x the original price iirc :man_shrugging:t2:)

Delivery only available in India

Yeah I was willing to pay the eBay price since it’s still not bad, but they won’t ship here either

Thats strange I found listings that would ship to me

e: @ryansinatra just checked and theyre international, idk how I missed that…

Pretty sure there was a domestic option before covid. Maybe it was a one off sale?

You can still find listings that ship to you? Or was this pre covid lol

Yeah they all ship out of India for the most part and all won’t ship to me either. I like the helmet, the lack of certs scares me a bit so I don’t use it when going too fast.

Favourite helmet ive used so far, visor gets scratched kinda easily and there is no helmet bag but I’d say its good for esk8 speeds.

It is just a very cheap indian helmet. $40 helmet from india.
Just watch some honest reviews comparing it to other helmets. From the few I watched they said the helmet felt cheap, and noticed the lack of padding, poor build quality, and annoying visor that rattles at speed and doesn’t snap/lock-down. Not to mention that It has no actual certifications except for the one they mention regarding the buckle system… not even the worthless Indian safety certification (ISI).

It’s fairly large as well.
If you’re looking at this for a full-face helmet, the chin bar is worthless in a crash.
You will be overpaying for sure, I would just go with an Mtb helmet to get something worth your money.
But I don’t own one, that’s just my view on the helmet.
@itsrow What other helmets have you used?

Not defending this helmet, I’ve already stated my viewpoint, but mine seems well constructed, doesn’t rattle at speed and does lock down. The quick release strap for removal is nice.

Definitely not as solid as my triple 8 invader or demon podium though and very similarly priced.

I just wanted to try out a visor for cheap and it was on a big discount.

Mostly motorcycle helmets like the LS2 storm tried buddies fox airframes and TSG pass, just not a fan. I cant be bothered to wear 2kg motorcycle helmets for esk8 anymore so the steelbird was a happy medium. Visor doesn’t rattle at speed, locks down closed. Had a couple falls wearing it and it was sufficient for my head contacting solid ice. I think mtb helmets look bad and feel worse so different strokes there. Most of those rating on helmets are bullshit as far as im concerned, Ive seen MIPS helmets shatter skulls. Strange you would offer this statement without owning the helmet.

If you can find them for a discount then yeah, But most ebay sellers want upwards of 80$ for the helmet and that’s just silly.
At our speeds its probably no biggie to go with the steel-bird, but like you said, its just not as solid as other similarly priced helmets

That’s why I said I don’t own it. I can’t speak from experience, that would be lying. It’s just the glaring issues in the helmet that I felt needed to be pointed out.

Well exactly, that’s why it’s laughable that it can’t even achieve the lesser ISI rating.

I’m surprised you don’t like the pass. It’s seems like an overall enhanced version of this helmet.

The air is 1.28kg, while the LS2 Breaker is 1.4kg… maybe that’s a happy medium for you? It’s got 2 certs (dot and ece)

I don’t notice the weight of the helmet (breaker) after I’ve been riding for a few minutes :man_shrugging:t2:

Certs don’t mean much to me, and Im not really looking for another helmet although I appreciate the recommendation.

@Rob the fitment was better on the air for my wide and short head versus the TSG Pass, not a design problem or anything there. Ive gotten so many concussions from helmets that are DOT, MIPS or R22.05 that I shouldve been able to walk away from unharmed it seems to me like a money grab more than any actual testing figures that save your head.

I think all things considered, it would be a decent helmet for my applications. Hopefully I can find one at some point.
