Have you looked into forwarding services? The Irish postal service operates a UK and US to Ireland option that’s cheap, it’s like €16 to get a 2kg package from the US to here. Not sure if there’s something like that for Slovenia

Generally, thats just shipping (which on its own is expensive - 21 euro for shipping a 2kg item). Often, shipping companies will ship based on volume, rather than weight, and a board is rather large. Then, after shipping, they apply 20% for VAT because the goods are from outside of EU and then there might be some import taxes, but most probably none for a board. So you have 90 eur for a board, then 20 (potentially more) eur for shipping and then 20 eur for VAT and after that internal shipping (from the forwarding company to his address) which is another 10 euro probably. So you have an item that is 100$ in the US and to import it, it would come to about 160$. For some, 60$ is nothing, for others like me - its substantial.
