I’ve been looking at those Xiaomi scooter chargers (bird, lime) for potential use on a 10s build I have going. They are all over the place on Craigslist, maybe somone can chime in as to quality/value? I see them for$10- $12 all day long

Got a 10s charger 1.5a that you can have for a £5

If you Google scooter fire and watch a few videos you’ll see why people sell them :joy:

I highly suggest buying a decent quality charger. Its safter for your board and your home.

Interesting. One would think that’s a BMS problem… shouldn’t a good bms protect the battery from overcharging fires? I have a good charger, just wondering… thanks!

There’s the kicker though. People use cheap bms as well.

While a bms will perhaps save your board you’re better off fusing the positive charge wire obviously. That likely won’t cost you your bms life.

It won’t however stop the charger from overheating during normal operation and causing a fire on the charger end.

I’m just an advocate for not using cheap stuff when energy is involved. Batteries are just a way to store lightning.

Thread detail, sorry

I use this fanless 3.5a charger. Have had zero problems. Its fairly small too so might be worth is to you.

might be an option. I would prefer more (4-5A)

I just googled “scooter fire” and got different results than expected

This is what I plan on using. It fried my cheap charging port, so am currently using a 2A charger from the same company (yzpower). Has a dedicated fan, so it’s a bit loud, but at least I can feel assured it won’t die from overheating :slight_smile:

Edit: Have used this charger around 5 times now, 0 problems :slight_smile:

@BillGordon can be closed :slight_smile:
