I did over 1000km on that thing. Even replaced 2 times the back wheels just because there where on the plastic.
5 years ago I bought/built a rc car and had so much fun with it. Until I saw this video on youtube.
Then I sold my rc car stuff to spend it on esk8 parts. Started reading in february 2017 and 4 months later I had my first board running. It broken after the first 100-200km and then it was upgrading time to buy higer quality parts etc.
I longboarded for 11 years before this. Mostly downhill and long distance city riding. I’ve also been a snowboarder, wakeboarder, kiteboarder and for a short time I rode a flowboard (14-wheel skateboard). Esk8 was just the logical next step. Next step for me is e-mountainboard. Once I have the funds I’ll also be building an eSurf and maybe an electric snowboard if @powertraverse comes through on his project.
I’d often look out the window on long road trips and pretend I was surfing in the ditches next to all the cars. Fast-forward 20 years and I see some guy on YouTube cobble together a skateboard with some junk laptop cells, an angle grinder and epoxy and I was hooked. It’s the closest thing to a real life hoverboard and the brushless tech is absolutely fascinating.
@b264 this looks like a great short deck if it’s <32”, yeah?
Hard to tell if the bottom protrusions are completely molded into the board. But from a top down perspective, the perimeter looks like amazing proportions, and side view has good concave.
You are all as selfish as fuck. I built my board for a GOOD reason. To run dog. I have heart failure. And like ALL THE REST of you, I am incapable of keeping up with doggo.
I got tagged walking my Ebike thru store, so I go shopping with Esk8 instead.
I literally have not once rode my board strictly for fun. It is my PEV. And makes all trips FUN.
I just wanted to get to the train station faster than walking/taking the bus. A scooter isn’t as convenient to carry when not riding it (used to ride a kick scooter for my last mile commute) and I don’t trust the bicycle parking around here.
Been riding shortboards exclusively for the exact same reason. The only exception is my folding board for when even a short board is not inconspicuous enough.
I’m simply talking about taking the top layer of the deck to turn into an esk8 deck. It looks like it has perfect profile for a short board. Fat rear, fattish front. That is if it’s under 32 inches, preferably closer to 30 inches, and the picture is not misleading.
