WHY DON'T MORE PEOPLE WEAR GLOVES??!!

Slide glove for sliding and no glove for complete throttle control. Ive tried several different gloves on the remote hand and they all just get in the way.

So no board equals full control. yes?

I’d love some gloves that can both slide on the ground, and be compatible with my eskate remote.

I am all ears on this topic right now… They need to be cheap though, cos I’m always wearing holes in gloves and the left front pocket area of my pants. 50km out of town in the rain tonight with a sleeping bag strapped to my deck. My gloves got melted from tying to dry them , so perhaps stick with leather occasions like these.

Gloves which slide, and matching pants-thigh sliding armour ideally. Some nights I like taking the thane boards out, and when they let go I tend to slide more than tumble.

I get this for many reasons.
Gloves are sorta a disposable item in skateboarding.

Maybe the industry needs to make velcro with a good adheasive
that allows for any glove type to be used. Then even if you lose
a pair you can buy some anywhere and add the felt with a better
adhesive than just a sticky back.

This would be simple and could be sold in a pack of 10pairs or more
for the cost of a cheap pair of gloves. Im not a rocket scientist but I do
think the chemicals and products are available if someone is keen enough
to create them. These could also be sold in skate and longboard shops.
Thus offering more than protection for just eskate but all skateboarders and
maybe even other riders.

I didn’t know such shops existed. We have skate shops, they mostly sell stuff that you might kickflip or ollie. They might have the occasional globe longboard or cruiser, and if you’re lucky, two evolves in stock but no spare parts. The market for gloves intended to slide I think is far too small for a bricks and mortar store to bother with though, or at least where I live this is true.

I have a pair of the seismic gloves - had the synthetic and when i wore them out went full leather.

Usually wear the lg/xl but went down a size to the m/lg and stretched them: wear them and wash your hands in warm soapy water and absolutely soak them while pulling them on tight and wear them until they dry. Then use some softener on them and they disappear.

Cut the index finger off the right hand for my trigger remote and cut a third of the right hand puck off. Probably gonna add a knuckle loop to my remote so i can slide my right hand better but slide pucks work better closer to the wrist anyway and it leaves lots of room for my zmote.

Ill snap a pick of my setup when i get home

I drag my hands through the asphalt constantly and this set is holding up. Last synthetic set is technically still usable after 1500 miles but i wanted full finger protection as i kept scraping up my fingertips

Gloves and helmet are my go to. I rarely ride without either. I have some other protective stuff, but a rarely use it.

As long as I know my hands and brain arent getting completely shredded when I go down that’s what matters.

This is my glove of choice. They are super lightweight. They don’t offer a ton of protection, but they do have hard palms. The palms are Velcro so you can move the puck around.

This is helpful for getting comfortable with the remote hand. I also like to cut the thumb off for throttle feel.

Imo these are the best lightweight option that will help you slide a little and minimize damage without feeling like you are wearing full on motorcycle gloves.

Gloves and helmet are a must for me, but I can’t do full finger gloves with the throttle. These are my favorite that I use daily:

This is what my left glove looked like after a couple of bad falls. They were pretty light gloves, but I got no hand injuries in either fall.

Even fairly cheap and light gloves do a ton. I got those for under $20, but they seem to be out of stock now.

There are many times local shops can get the deal on the supply needed.
This is normal in most biz as to get true bones bearings can be hard sometimes as many try and fake. So to bring this attention to a shop
or even let them know you would buy x amounts per year can make this
happen in most cases. Most shops near me are not unusual and will help
to find a board, shoe, etc if you need or they have ability to get.

When they stock only this or that it is based on that
area, true in most cases.

When you are not present at your shop buying items or suggesting
this or that it can make online the way to go. Now if you have even a small
group of riders this can make all the difference in what is sold. Might even
help others to know about E-skate when you walk in to get gloves with your
electric board.

As for me I would think both are possible both ways as some places
may not have skateboarding shops but they may have a
lot of skateboarding or places that people skate.

Example: There is not always a shop right on the best hill, or at the
best park to skate. Which is why online shops help and even skate
shops can be both and allow the sale of certain items only only.
This can help them see if worth even stocking in the shop.

Pretty sure thats how most things work.
AI: seems a lot of locals are buying this or that online.
Maybe we should stock some in the shop… Just me…

XD how the fingers get so ruffed up…
The gloves can be used to teach you what you need to work on.
This way you don’t need to be taught by anyone but yourself.

Take this info or Dont:
When a glove wears in certain areas its a call to action imo.
You seem to have a lot of finger drags. This mean you need to work
on your finger control and allow you fingers to rise up and let the
puck to the work more.

Then when you get further into learning the gloves you can work
on no paws down. This does not mean no gloves for protection but
to learn how to never need to touch the ground for control.

Most of my finger dragging is because i snatch trash and pinecones on the fly to either trash or throw at the people skating behind me respectively. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

I really like those.

I’ve got three boards with vx1’s, one with a VX2 which I hate as it has throttle limiting baked into the firmware, one with a puck but I prefer the VX1’s, and four evolves still because I don’t know why I insist on keeping them.

What ya reckon those gloves would work like with a vx1 with the thumb chopped off?

I like the butchers block on it. I bet that makes the world of difference in a fall.

Ive run pucks, vx1s and vx4s with these as is amd it’s totally functional. Mostly for testing as i have lighter gloves for slow casual rides.

I would suggest getting leather or something more vinyl so cutting the thumb asymmetrical is better and easier. I had the thumb cut on my old pair way lower on the inside than the outside of the thumb to keep it absolutely free of the thumb wheel and it worked great. Took a little tuning to make sure the glove never got in the way but nothing crazy. Has some snips in my bag for the first couple rides to trim on the fly when something annoyed me

I might have to look at making some I think, nice warm ones.

I was out the back of lake elsemere on Sat. It’s the boon whoops, 50km out in the country and being the middle of winter, decided to start raining as well as being cold.

Had a sleeping bag strapped to the deck, two snapped drive belts, a snapped Allen key, and then my head torch LED chip went open circuit. Still recovering from a fractured hand, I had this plastic moulded guard thing on and due to the cold couldn’t feel my thumb every time I went on the brakes, which was often, and an unlikable sensation.

I think it was the first time I’ve ever relied only on lights mounted to my board, it was awful. The road kept disappearing over every bridge, Ford and culvert.
