This shoulder bolt doesn’t go in nor does it come out… just got these off a member on here so I’m wondering what’s up
You removed the tiny grub screw from the hanger I hope, right?
I guess if you’re putting in new axles then maybe the threads have seized, in which case you’ve probably f*cked it
Nah not new axels. They were sent with it. And yes grub screw is out
@rusins yeah whole hanger is in bad condition. This one won’t come out and I can tell the other one will not go In if I try.
Most likely you have some debris in the thread or damage to a thread that is causing it to have really high friction (something is bitting into the aluminum), so best bet would be heat, penetrating oil, or impact torque
It’s unlikely there is a bond between the hanger and bolt as the materials are dissimilar. Also unlikely you are pulling vaccum as there isn’t enough surface area to generate that much suction even if you assumed the whole surface area of the bolt was applying a full 1 ATM of negative pressure
So I have to heat it up to get it out? Like because the hanger was messed up before it got to me I now have lost the hanger, shoulder bolt and now my wheel lol @ZachTetra
It depends on what you want to save…if you want the wheel back then use a cut off disk on the exposed axle then you have the wheel, bearing, and spacers without damage…if you want the hanger then you will need to bring the whole thing up to temperature so the thermal expansion breaks the connection between the axle and hanger but that will probably ruin everything from the heat damage…or you can just go absolutely ham on the threads by clamping the hanger in a mounted vice and use vice grips with a hammer to torque the axle loose
All in all its a sketchy situation and I would not have high hopes, in this is why I spend the better part of an hour carefully cleaning my hanger threads when I got the BN hangers and doubled up on all the bolts so I would have a set with no burs or damage that I could use
Well I can tell it was definitely the hanger that is the issue. The shoulder bolt is fine but I can tell because both sides are not wanting to even allow the shoulder bolt to go in, and they are clean and everything @ZachTetra
Yikes dude, I don’t know what to tell ya…maybe the hanger was put in a vice and that squished the thread bore?
Honestly not sure, don’t think it’s that bad but I can definitely tell ya that the threads are messed up or in other words not in perfect shape
Don’t force it. Spray oil in grub screw hole. The bolt gets scratch easily and it gets seized.
I also clean the threads meticulously and then epoxy axles (not shoulder bolts) in there. No Loctite.
Yeah that would make sense @b246
Lmao. Your luck homie
He got that shitty hanger from CiscoV
Lol was not Cisco fault, he did not know
Does it turn at all?
Yea @BigBen but I was able to remove it by freezing the hanger and putting oil inside the little hole
