White Midnight - A project of spare parts?

We boutta call you dangling power button man

AP ripping it last Wednesday

The board has potential, but needs some work.
Most notably, it would definitely benefit from drop-through mounting of dualities. That’s going to take a lot of work.

For now, I redid the wheel gear mounting. Replaced the two male standoffs (originally a disgusting bodge for Super Duality) with a single female/female standoff. Simpler and a lot easier to center.

Because the new female standoff is thin enough to fit through the holes in the gear, so I printed these hex sleeves to actually hold the gear in place when bolted down. (Pictured, left)
Additionally, I printed small sleeves for the bolts to make them the same size as the slots in the gears. (Pictured, right, hard to see)

Still not a perfect solution, but these changes made it a lot easier to get the gear well-centered on the hub, leading to a big improvement on what it was before.

Are you using a carrier bearing?

I’ve done with and without. With is much better of course but introduces additional problems like a floating spacer between the inside hub bearing and the carrier bearing.

I started using the linnpower adapter spacers on most of my pneumatic open gear setups. The linns have a nice pocket for the carrier bearing but now if the inside hub bearing seat is a little loose (hubbas) then the hub bearing can come loose when the wheel is removed and become floating and captured between the hub and the adapter plate. Causing a disassembly to be required to put the bearing back.

I came up with this holder to bolt up to the adapter plate that provides a stop for the bearing inside the hub. @AlexB helped me knock it out.

I need to take apart a wheel and make sure all is good but three intro sessions later and everything seems fine.
