Which is the Best Quality Brand to use for DIY?

Im looking into using Gear-Drive for my DIY,
but im not as knowledgeable in this section,
the options that i have come across to use:

  • 3D Servisas (if i can still get ahold of a set)
  • Linnpower (their QR-Rims are really dope)
  • Omni (can be used w/ their 13” TKP trucks)
  • Newbee (guy behind this also runs “REV” too)

Newbee is good I think, you can also get the metal slave gear upgrade instead of the POM ones. A bit louder but more durable. @jack.luis also have his own gear drive if you wanna hit him up.

All solid gear-drive options you’re looking at they each bring something a bit different to the table depending on your build goals.

• 3D Servisas classic choice if you can still source them; proven and simple.

• Linnpower (QR-Rims) really slick modular system with quick-release rims that works great with different tire setups.

• Omni nice integration if you’re running their 13” TKP trucks; good rigidity and direct drive feel.

• Newbee/REV newer but promising designs with modern geometry and attention to efficiency.

For a DIY, pick based on whether you want modularity (Linnpower), truck integration (Omni), or straightforward reliability (3D Servisas/Newbee). Each will give you solid geardrive performance on an esk8 build.

I just put my 3dservisas 5:1 Drives up for Sale. Check it out.

I think he is chat gpt …

I am a huge fan of Newbee 4GS drives.

I have 4 sets running.

Straight cut steel. That means only Linnpower qualifies here.

I really like stooge open gears. Have had multiple sets with no failures. They’re loud but reliable, affordable and easily serviceable.

Basically

For lotta folks they’re too loud for long period of time.

Just gotta ride faster , leave the sound behind ya lol.

I mentioned they’re loud in the post

Guy asked for gear drive options, these weren’t on his list so thought I’d suggest them.

Naw they’re good. It’s what I’ve been running.

I’ve delt with Omni some. Typical Chinese experience. Very difficult to interact with, long response times. I’ve broken two of their TKP axels, poor quality metals. I was not a fan of their gear drive, the gears ground down quickly and getting replacement gears took months.

Also, i noticed that Acedeck does gear drives as well…

Anyone know if a set of @3DServisas could be used
with a set of @Titoxd1000 for a flat deck build at all?
(im going for a really weird but unique build on this one)
if this doesnt work, im considering the Linnpower gears…

Linn gears are a solid option, I’ve seen them fit on dualities and they seem to run great, just make sure you get the right gear/clamp combinations to fit your particular setup

I have a full esk8 drive train fully built ready to mount available for sale if you are interested steel on steel boardnamics gear drives

does the BN setup work for a street setup?
(cause what i see its only works for AT setups)

im honestly considering this combination,
but damn those @Titoxd1000 trucks are expensive!
