Wheels not starting at the same time at low speed

Hello,

My VESC based setup is finally ok but I notice my wheels are not starting at the same time when I slightly push the throttle
I don’t like it because one motor is forcing more than the other and I suspect it will be problematic on the long run
Can I / How do I fix that in the VESC Tool?

Cheers,
David

Can you actually feel this when riding the board? Usually 1 belt might be tighter or you could have a bad bearing, so one motor has more resistance, but under load this difference is unnoticeable.

This won’t cause any problem in the real world, off the bench.

However, if you want to fix it, you need to adjust the PWM values and tweak them for each ESC.

For example, this is one of mine

R: 1.095ms, 1.940ms, 1.580ms
L: 1.092ms, 1.928ms, 1.562ms

those slight differences tune them so they start up simultaneously.

It also helps if you can go from -104% pushing the trigger forward, to 0% when you are not pushing or pulling, to +104% when you pull the trigger all the way in.

The extra 4% means if you apply full brake or full throttle, you don’t have to keep the control mashed into the very end of the range for it to stay at full power/brake.

Just makes life a tiny bit more enjoyable.

Not the case here, DirectDrive and brand new Motors/bearings

thanks!
