EVE 50PL is

70.15±0.15mm length and 21.15±0.10mm diameter

Along with having 5Ah capacity and insane performance ratings (125A discharge). My vote goes to these!

Ohhh yea believe me this one is a fat cell. I need to do special cell holders for this ones, same as old molicels. They do not fit in regular trays.

Eve 50PL, Reliance RS50 are the top cells as far as today.

Hot take: Compared with the rs50 at 40a discharge the rs50 is going to give more usable capacity.

Looking at the mooch results for both the early rs50 tests and the 50pl official tests from the ecig forums the discharge curves for both look great but the rs50 at a 40a continuous discharge beats the eve 50pl by a bit. id post up the discharge graphs but it was watermarked not to share or post so you’ll have to follow the links below and see there.

the rs50 at a 3v cutoff (very low for eskate, but it makes the comparison easier) hits right at 4ah where the eve50pl crosses 3v around 3.75ah. temperature wise both cells maintained 40a cont without hitting the 80c cut off but the eve cell did better by 7 degrees and the rs50 maxing at 76c so if temps are more important than capacity the eve is quite a bit better.

the trend continues for lower and higher discharge but the rs50 just doesn’t seem to be capable of real continuous output over 40a but i dont think that’s really applicable to the jaykay use. def not going to use that extra output amperage capacity sipping current on hubs like these are supposed to do. maybe just for the lower temps but i think capacity at med to low draw are better to prioritize here and the rs50 are the clear winner in both price and output. temp concerns the eve pulls way ahead but not what i would prioritize with both being able to sustaine 40a cont. without hitting cutoff 80c.

rs50 preproduction sample tests

eve50pl (unconfirmed) sample tests

(thanks @Battery_Mooch, love that i can just google this shit and your tests pop up reliably and the results are trustworthy)

At 4s1p, what kind of amps are needed for these trucks?

The 40T was likely among the best cells available back when these trucks were made.

With the batteries, the ESC, the BMS, the receiver, and the motors themselves all being one unit, it must get quite hot in that hanger.

I was surprised the cans I put my calipers on were not perfectly round, but probably should not have been.

With such a tight fit inside the hanger, one might benefit from rotating the battery in relation to the PCB, and perhaps buying more cells than needed and choosing the shortest ones, since they seem to vary as much in length as the thickness of nickel strip used to weld them together.

Both the EVE 50pl and RS50 are seemingly within the same length and diameter +/- 0.xx mm as the 40T5.

That’s a fair point, the RS50 is great too and does deliver a bit more capacity for moderate power, so if it’s the same size might be a better choice for this application. Regarding cost, 50PL in the EU went for 2.80€+tax on nkon (out of stock right now, 3.40ish with tax), that’d be hard to beat in price. I know it’s more expensive stateside. The RS50 I don’t even think is available in Europe yet.

I love that everyone is bringing out their “choosing the best cell for the application” experience, to this new challenge.

Glad my testing has been useful!

Yea, the Patreon-only stuff just can’t be shared. No one would become a patron if everything got publicly posted.

Remember though that Google will put the “most popular” version of the Mooch test results you’re looking for at the top. This means the oldest posts. A lot of times there are retests, corrections, additional cells added, etc. all that would be missed if using Google’s top hits.

Love the work you do and Not criticizing your model or business decisions at all but i actually only patrion for stuff that is made wholly public or at least 100% available to $0 patrons. Sounds kinda weird but im a huge fan of libraries and public media too. That kinda stuff made it possible for me to do what i do successfully today and i give back specifically to help foster and support that. Helps out the people who can’t pay to play like i couldn’t when i had lesser means. Sorry for the derail, back to your regularly scheduled jaykay programming

Appreciate the cell insights guys. But unfortunately these trucks are not mine, if not i would’ve gone with the best capacity dense cell that has been mentioned here.

My friend and I decided to go with P42A because its what I have on hand now. Getting other cells will take too long as shipping it from credible vendors will take up to a month or two to reach.

So here goes. Turns out the nickel that is welded onto the 40T comes off quite easily, and very clean too. I wonder how it survived this long. Perhaps the tension of the truck caps kept the connections secure although the welds were weak. The nickel that connects to the PCB seems unique also, and I wasn’t sure how to connect new nickel strips to it so I figured ill save the existing nickel and spot weld onto that.

The cells measure 0v, so i was confident in using a craft knife, and tapping with a hammer onto the spine of the knife to ‘chisel’ the weld apart.

Heres the PCB and the nickel. Ill spot weld on the negative on the edges as it intended, and then spot weld the flats to the positive. I wanted to put a fishpaper ring but I was concerned over the tightness so I ended up not doing so.

Samsung 40T measures 21mm exactly. P42A measures 21.2mm I will sand the inner bore of the hangar lightly to relieve some space inside.

Can’t think of a better person to tackle this

When you are done are you going to spray paint the trucks glittery green?

I wish! But alas, these trucks are not mine, i’m fixing them on behalf of a friend.

A friend with no style, apparently

Gosh! I’m so jealous XD I’m looking for those for so long

I see a couple pics of the cell’s nickel but I still don’t understand how you can connect cells so close like this. How’s this done? @Linny

I guess just weld n fold

How’s the reviving going ? Any update ?
