Hey all, i need some help on a new thing to me : hot glue.
I have changed a motor on my deck and i noticed the sensor connections to the esc were held in place by a blob of hot glue. A good thing, it was also easily removed so i could unplug and replug the sensor wire. I thought to do the same hotglue adding when i would do the motor-change.
So I purchased a hot glue gun , wireless one that can run on my Makita 18V battery. Great stuff. it came with 20 free cartridges/glue sticks. Clear ones.
I tried it and the adhesive or “stick” of this glue was no good; would just come off by looking / breathing at it
Which 11mm glue sticks do you use + recommend for me to use ? In my case it would be used on rubber/plastic/polyester. The sensor plug being plastic + the socket or the esc has a rubber finish (Xenith)
I have seen a lot online , different colours etcetera… I have to mention that the hot glue used by the original builder was also clear of colour and that one did a good job (?)
Jeez the Amazon customer ratings are excellent, i’ve never seen a “full” amount of postive plus/positive rating on something ! And this “plus” amount being almost 15000, must be the shizzle, eh !?
Yeah but it’s also handy , because it’s like “clay” when you remount/reassemble the parts ! You can mold it back into shape so it functions another 3 to 4 (more?) times as a gasget
I bought a glue gun that takes a Dewalt battery. The clear glue sticks it came with have poor adhesion. I believe the gun itself will overdischarge the battery if one forgets and leaves it on. Beware of this possibility with Makita too, as the low voltage cutoff is in the tool, not that battery.
I got some black glue sticks that bond far better than the clear which came with my gun, and it remains flexible.
I like it.
I decided on the stuff the local store sells, before i saw this video… Mind you i have known Stanley all my life and it has always seemed like a good/okay brand + affordable.
… and well i’ll be damned it came out great in the vid ! And cheap too, no mail-costs
