What is this clicking sound?

I recent started to here a loud clicking sound from my haggy drive assembly but it’s not clear exactly where it’s coming from. I can only hear it at low speeds. Has anyone heard this before?

Sounds like the belts imo. Either too loose or to tight, or rubbing against something.

If it’s consistent it could be a bearing failure. When they crack and roll they tend to make a clicking sound. Sometimes hard to see at first, but you should be able to see a split in the outer casing if that’s the issue…

Does it only happen under load? Ie not on the bench?

Yes, it only happens under load

Scary! I dont see any cracks in the outer ring of the bearing though - can it be broken without that?

If it only happens under load, its probably the belts. I had the same clicking noise, which came from loose belts.

Willing to bet it’s a magnet. The more speed you get the quicker the clicks get. Could also be a bearing but I’ve never (in my experience) heard a bearing sound that way.

Magnets always click if they’re loose, so thats ruled out.

Hence it’s probably a magnets…

Edit: Nvm. I see what you’re saying.

It does sound like metal to metal click though. I’ve honestly never heard a belt click like that. But it very well could be a belt popping on the pulley and causing the pulley to click against the shaft.

Without having hands on it though, we’re all just best guessing.

I don’t think so, the crack in the outer rim should be visible … so probably not your bearings…
