What helmet speakers are you using [SERIOUS]

I got mine with a friend during a sale so I paid like 150 buck for mine

Ever stand in front of a 12 ft tower of Funktion-One 215s blasting in your face? Soundgasm massage.

Edit for [serious] tag: is it a pretty bad idea to just use wireless earbuds and keep the volume low enough so you can hear traffic? I haven’t tried it out yet. I have a couple pairs of cheap Ali earbuds I’m planning on testing.

Lol not sure, maybe yes in concerts but I’m not knowledgeable enough to recognize these fat speaker towers lol I’m more into headphones/earphones stuff.

If you wanna have a taste of how it is like, just try with some earphones you already have before buying new ones, keep volume at audible level without blasting it and try walking around with your helmet on. That’s the level of isolation you might have to deal with.

Now it also depends on your needs and budget! Ideally avoiding cables when you wear a helmet is top, so you can have freedom of movements so BT is a good choice ; there are active noise cancelation earphones with ambient noise amplification for outside awareness on bike etc.

Are your using it only for sport or you want a polyvalent setup ? Take all of that into account and budget accordingly.

Summary

At home I have a Fostex t50rp mk2 orthodynamic + two small amps for quality listening, best emotional and detailed sound I ever heard (and I have tried a bunch including Sennheiser hd25, Beyerdynamics One, Ultrasone HFI 580/780, different Beats - the first big one, Mixr, etc), and for compact setup I used dual drivers Denon C300 with comply foam tips for few years until the cables broke. Also have a Sennheiser BT headphones, can’t remember the name but still pretty good sounding overall.

So I’m already covered for home listening.
Now a quick insight about 100-150 range BT earphones : some models are incredible! Few can even rival 300 range models or outperform them too. So it’s a very sweet spot to buy quality gear indeed. Also you want at least aptX on board, difference with ad2p sbc codec is steep.

The two last models I tried wiped the floor easily with my Denon and trust me the Denon were lit.

You might want either a neutral or a fun signature I guess, hence the suggestions below.

I was looking for a true wireless set for sport mainly and ride, tried Klipsch T5 and AT ATH-CKS5TW. You can consider the Klipsch an upgrade over Cambridge Melomania and the AT are rivals against Sennheiser Momentum.

God the Klipsch were warm and good, for acoustic and vocals it was just the best earphones I’ve heard so far. Crystal clear, vibrant and warm vocals and strings/violins. Open detailed Soundstage. I rediscovered all my tracks again. And the Zippo package is gorgeous, if that counts.
But it lacked versatility and sometimes, low end spectrum was way too recessed. These are not for you if you’re a basshead.

Now what the Klipsch didn’t have, the AT had it all tho. While they don’t pack the extra emotion of the Klipsch, these AT are genius in every other domain. They have power. They play your songs effortlessly and are able to make thunder rain on you should you want to. You cannot stress them, in fact you won’t be able to. You only will be able to enjoy what you listen to the way you want to. I also rediscovered my tracks with these guys, but differently.

I kept the AT in the end and sent back the Klipsch since I already had my Fostex. Truthfully I’m addict to the AT sound signature, it has implanted deep in my veins. But both are worth a shot and can accompany you for a long time. Voilà for my humble experience!
