Hey guys, I’ve been wondering these last few days on how to make my remote waterproof, now that my board is, it’s the only part remaining, and probably more people would also like this idea, even if going to ride in the rain may not be a thing, sooner or latter you will get caught by the weather gods
These are a few solutions I’ve thought so far, for reference I use and love a GT2B mod
-
Waterproof remote: It’s expensive and may not be the type of remote you like, as far as I know, only Maytech has it
-
Plastic bag: Either supermaket one or Ziploc, for thumb remotes seems ok, with trigger I have to test but may jam it and be unsafe to ride
-
Conformal Coat: Coating the PCB seems fine, the on/off switch may be trick and the throttle potentiometer impossible to make waterproof, should help is a light rain but no truly waterproof
-
Full Custom Design: Start from a form factor you like, replace the potentiometer with a hall sensing trigger, conformal coat the PCB, somehow waterproof the USB charge port and find a waterproof on/off switch
As with any waterproofing thread, I summon @b264
