Wanting to Acquire a Legacy (gear) Drive

Im really wanting to see if i can build a “Legacy” DIY,
and have “pieces from the past” on my custom build…
So im looking at 1 of the following options for drives:

@3DServisas

  • Urethane Drive v5 @ 2.2/4/6
  • FatBoy Mini @ 1.3/4/36

@avX Avio MK2 @ 3.92 (i’ve never heard of this one before,
but i saw the thread about them & saw the quality+low-noise,
otherwise, i have absolutely no knowledge on this brand at all)

@Boardnamics M1 Drive (dual set) @ 2.22/78

to help those that really know their shiz about gear drives,
im looking to pair these with a set of MAD 125s (Kegel)
for right now, but later on, CW 135s (which are ABECs)
very unlikely that i would ever go beyond those sizes.

(i know i could go with tito + linn, but again, im going for a
‘‘let me go dig some bones out the graveyard” kinda build)
thanks for coming to my ted talk // i appreciate any/all help

I have a basically NIB set of boardnamics m1 drives. Not sure the ratio

drop some pics for me to see?

anybody have any knowledge on what Avio MK2’s are about?

who has the better quality gear drives out of the 3 motors?"
@3DServisas vs @Boardnamics vs @avX (street-setup?)

Boardnamics M1 AT straight cuts are the best drives. They are as reliable as it gets. Do not get helicals though those were a shitshow. And the street drives have / had issues with the pins of the wheel adapter falling out.

Basically all you are looking for in a gear drive is always 3 things: straight cut gears, and only steel gears. Anything else tends to not hold up over time. And robust wheel adapters.

im wanting a closed gear setup, not “stooge” style,
im wanting low-profile, not CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW

Boardnamic drives are all enclosed. Ik that @nclayton has a bunch of unused M1 if you’re interested in those.

Agreed. Boardnamics drive WITH straight cut gears should be very reliable. Pretty much all the issues that those drives had was from the helical gears. Even better if you’re able to get BN motors that has the step down on the shaft.

got some pics of them?

Paging @nclayton about M1 BN gear drives

Indeed I have some of the M1 street drives - straight cuts (believe the ratio is 2.78). You want a dual-drive set?

I’ll get some pics and create a WTS post for the BN M1’s.

Overstock from EU distributor Nexus Boards that closed up shop a couple years ago. Several dual-drive sets: straight cut street ratio (2.78) and kegel wheel adapters only, with choice of adapters for either BN220 or BN270 trucks.

Do we know who else make adapters for the M1 drive? I want to run them with Matrix 3.

Noone makes aftermarket adapters. Don’t think M1 and M1AT use the same one either but I don’t have regular M1 drives.
