VESC WAND REMOTE soon to arrive from the future

I suppose, that it is the same as updating a vesc/bricked vesc.

Did you receive yours already??

I found it guys. https://vesc-project.com/node/1114

Yeah their shipping is max 3 days. My wheels shipped Tuesday and I got them Thursday.

My first batch Wand is still unused. I need to update and have some 4.10 Vescs with the swd port but with Ackmaniac 3.102 installed on them. If I try to update to the new stock vesc firmware with the latest vesc tool it gives me „firmware is newer on the device“ something and I should downgrade in the firmware section. Did anyone see this before and could tell me what to do?

That’s because of FW revision numbers. Vedder uses a different set of numbers. Just go to FW and chose the correct Hardware and hit upload.

tried that but it does only connect in some kind of „safe“ mode where a firmwareupgrade is not possible.

What I would do is download the latest vesc tool, install the firmware on the vescs then proceed with the wand firmware update as per the instructions.
Finally if you want to, you can revert back to the ackmaniac firmware.

Vesc Tool can upload any FW. Open the CUSTOM FW tab, choose the FW and hit upload.
That’s the HW4.10, 4.11, 4.12 Firmware.

I will make some screenshots. I am not able to do a firmwareupdate of any kind cause the vesc tool only connects in a limited mode because apparently its not happy to see the ackmaniac firmware on my vescs. Thats why I am asking

Thats what I get trying to update on the latest vesc tool:

Then it sits at “Erasing buffer 0%” and then times out.

I bet implementing the usb to program would solve most of the problems with updates…

In my case no doubt.

Flipsky 6.6 no swd port.
Old Vesc with ack no FW update possible.

Which 6.6 you have that there us no swd port?
Usually it’s just not populated but that’s an easy fix. Just buy a jst header for 5cent and plug it in.

I recently encountered the same problem. The reason is that a recent version of VESC Tool added firmware compression, new update mechanism.

VESC Tool thinks that Ackmaniac supports firmware compression (since firmware version is higher). But it does not.

Do the following:

  1. Get correct firmware bin file from https://github.com/vedderb/vesc_tool/tree/master/res/firmwares (matching your hardware)
  2. Use Ackmaniac ESC Tool to flash this bin file
  3. Afterwards you will be able to use VESC Tool

Its the small 6.6 dual plus with no swd headers. :frowning:

@rpasichnyk thank you! Will try asap.

@rpasichnyk Roman that worked perfectly fine! Thanks again!

But the issues didn’t stop there. @Trampa I did firmware updates on both the BLE module and the Wand - no issues there, all good. But when I tried to pair the two nothing happened. No message either way just nothing.

Now after the pairing attempt my Wand is behaving strange - It takes several seconds to turn on and is not showing a startup logo anymore.

So far it is not the experience I hoped for with the Wand. :disappointed_relieved:
