Temp is in Celsius for the now.
can u update the want on a vesc without an swd port?
No, if your have a Focbox (the only VESC based ESC without SWD I know of), you need to either solder cables to the PCB, or temporarily plug a female JST PH 5 Pin into the PCB.
Farnell order number: 9492445
For given reasons, SWD has always been part of the VESC circuitry definitions. We don’t know why it has been stripped from that design.
How long until you get this sorted? I just received my wand. Not a big fan of jumping through hoops to update firmware, why not implement the usb port and make people’s lives easier?
If you just recieved your Wand it has that FW installed already. if you can switch to imperial, it is the latest FW. USB FW update will come sooner than later. It is quite some Work to implement, but it will happen.
Because for 99% of the use cases out there it is unnecessary. You know this.
I have another question. Is there any chance I can bind this to two dongles? Use 2 dongles on 2 esc for redundancy? Or 4 dongles for 4wd?
You can indeed. Actually I was saying to Frank that it should be a confirmation action to allow this because as it is you just pair to one and then the other and boom, it controls two vescs.
I just got my wand 2 days ago. Do I have to update the wand as well? I already have the imperial units.
Also wanted to know that is there any way we can check the temperature of each motor and vesc separately?
Nope, is updated. Currently we show the master motor temp.
Am I the only one who “can’t connect to target” in SWD Prog tab ?
I tried with a Flipsky 6.6 and an old Torqueboard 4.12. Same.
I’ll look for other VESC laying around in my workshop, but… this is complicated as hell for just updating a FW. ![]()
You mean, like the WAND ? ![]()
@rpasichnyk made it happen with the Metr Pro though his app. And this is also a NRF chip.
Time to get in touch again Roman and Benjamin ? ![]()
That would be awesome !
Switch on Wand before hitting connect. It should connect straight away.
Restart VESC-Tool and/or Wand if your problem is still existing.
Wireless updates might become available in future.
Next thing is USB connectivity and bootloader integration.
Finally got it updated after soldering the JST on the WAND pads.
@Trampa Hi Frank - My wand only gets to 83% duty cycle when fully forward . Is there any setting to calibrate this?
Also - how do you tell it that the board has dual vescs so Wh/km and remaining range is correct
Thanks
Did you calibrate it using the VESC tool?
That sounds like an interesting problem, does it scale evenly through the stroke up to 83% or reach it before you bottom out the trigger? The signal calibration in the VESC tool would be kind of a fix.
Nunchuck APP doesn’t have calibration - only PPM does
Oh right, it’s weird that isn’t available for that mode, I’ve heard another person have this issue with a different remote. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have it because it doesn’t need to be calibrated in theory.
If you have a 31mph top speed then with 83% throttle still a pretty good 25mph cruising speed /s
