Vesc Tool android app not picking up Flipsky dual sesc6

Ok guys, please tell me i’m forgetting something really obvious but just bought the Vesc tool android app for my flipsky dual fsesc6 based on vesc. Baud rate of 115200 which is correct based on Flipsky guide but whenever I go to scan it’s not picking it up. I’ve powered on the esc and whether remote is already on or not I get the same problem. App config is set to UART which matches what the vesc tool says on my laptop. Needless to say my remote (vx2) works no issues.
Any ideas?

The bt module is integrated or external?
If external you can swap rx/tx that helps sometimes

It’s external, will try that now and report back

Did you mean swap the connector on both ends of the wire or just on the esc connector?

Just in the jst you connect to the esc. Also check the pin out from your module in general. Maybe something is totally mixed up. There is no standard for the Uart port, so that might not fit together with your bt module at all.

Maybe also tell us which module you use and pictures always help to trouble shoot

Yes some pictures would help, different bluetooth modules have different pinouts so it would be easier for us to help. Is your bluetooth module from flipsky?

Also I’m pretty sure flipsky goes against conventions and you need to connect tx → tx and rx → rx.

Ok, I think I’m been dumb as ****. I’ve got the Flipsky 2.4G receiver for the vx2 which I’m now guessing is not Bluetooth… Massive facepalm
Here’s the photos just in case I’m wrong.

Yep you definitely cant use a receiver as a bluetooth module. Gonna need to buy one, look up nrf51. For plug and play you can just buy it from flipsky. Can also make your own but thats a bit more involved

Or just use a USB cable and the windows tool.

Yeh, would like the mobile app as have a Mac and it’s a pain getting the shitty old laptop out every time I need to use it

Its also available for Mac. Releases · rpasichnyk/vesc_tool · GitHub

Thanks, didn’t realise that, will make life a lot easier

Thanks, honestly sometimes wonder if I should be using the noobs thread & I think, nope I’ve done a build, I’m not a noob & then I make this thread :man_facepalming::man_facepalming::man_facepalming:

Alternatively a metr will allow Bluetooth connection. Also gives you access to board data, logs, and GPS tracking if you were interested in that
