More precise detection.

and that causes the sound to be that different? Thought something is broken.

Sorry that was the fault. :woman_facepalming:

Yeah it’s faster and more consistent.

@xsynatic Make sure to play with those 123456 and the plotting buttons up at the top right of the plot to change view modes.

@rusins you are correct that setting it more than 40V at 10s won’t do much, that voltage actually seems way above what you need for a 6374. Maybe the kV makes a difference. I’ll have some lower kV motors in the mail soon. What pwm freq do you have set? I think the default is now 25 kHz? Maybe turn it down to 20 kHz (motor→foc→advanced) you will see more excitation of the coils at lower pwm freq (louder too)

Don’t know; I’m away now, so don’t have access to the board.

Thanks for testing this stuff out and reporting back!

Yup, did that with no effect. Enabled all, disabled all, reset it, rebooted, restarted, de and reactivated RT data.

I think i wait either for the vesc tool 2.03 or until metr supports the 4.1fw

@Trampa when are we getting a reasonable stock numbers of the battery current max (instead of 99Amps)?

Also the fw version seems to be bugged.

The tools said the newest available version is 3.66 (tool version 2.02) if i update regardless i get the latest 4.1 fw.

@Deodand
I just tested HFI on a prototype flipsky motor (has convex magnets) on my trampa VESC 6, it only generates torque in one direction; this is expected, correct? If so, will there be an easy way in the future to flip this direction? Right now I do it by swapping two phase wires and toggling the ā€œinvert motor directionā€.

Also another thing, ā€œsample in v0 and v7ā€ appears to break on firmware 4.x on non trampa hardware. I don’t understand why since all VESC based ESCs use essentially the same power stage and signal conditioning hardware.

I definitely got scared there the first time I saw this too.

My wife use two destroyed unsensored Maytech motors, I followed @Deodand video to instal HFI; the result it is incredible, smooth start, almost no noise, increase confindence to her and she is ridding better that ever. This is a great change for both of us…Thank you so much guys!

When I hold the brakes it makes the HFI whine. Does it mean we finally got handbrake? Can anybody confirm? :open_mouth:

Test it on a slight hill.

I have no means to test it right now. Winter, wet a f, recovering from a shoulder break.

Yes, hand break, tested…

It’s smart reverse. You can use smart reverse to hold position on a hill.

So it’s a tiny bit of smart reverse? As I have set my Control as Current No Reverse With Brake.

@Trampa I’m trying to upload the new 4.0 firmware with the VESC 2 tool. I previously had ackmaniac version 3.103 on the VESC. When attempting to get the new firmware I keep getting an erasing buffer error. Not sure how to get around it any advice would be great.

I had the same problem. I used an older version of the vesc tool (1.08), flashed it’s fw and then used the latest tool for the update again.
