VESC prices explode

The VESC prices explode. I know I boughts an VESC 4.2 for 50€ two years ago or so. Now they are at 80-120€ each. Is that because of the chip shortage? Anybody knows more? I wish I would have buyed a second one

FTFY

But yes chip shortages and rising material costs specifically for ESCs. Some like the Xenith are even decontenting some features because there aren’t enough chips for them.

Well good to know. The question is… will the prices drop back to “normal” at some point?

Let me check, one sec

No. Prices do not drop. That’s not a thing. If you start making more money, do you go back to doing the same thing for less? You do not. Neither will any of these companies. When manufacturing prices possibly do go back to normal, we won’t see it, profit margins will. T.T

Price wars are totally a thing in competitive markets.

Or so the legends say.

Yeah but then shit starts to get reeeal complicated

Cost of supply chain is a massive factor. To ship something from or two china has gone up incredible amounts and the same goes for landside shipping as well in most countries. You might be thinking that should only impact the shipping price but every part, that goes into an esc is getting shipped from somewhere to somewhere.

This had me dying when i read it lol

Covid shortages (workers not working and materials not being shipped), rare earth elements control and people building stupid stuff. I ordered a rav4 last year and i’m supposed to get it november 2023 and at full price (no winter tires or carpets included  … That’s life now.

I mostly buy all my electronics parts from dollar stores now. I salvage from useless products, it’s MUCH cheaper that way.
