vesc 75100 varieties for my Kart

Hello,

over the last two years, ive built a gokart with four individually driven BLDC escooter motors. the motors are stated 10S, 350w. im running them on 13S 500w ebay controllers.

i built a custom 48AH 14S15P battery, so the motors are already overvolted. im having trouble with the motors being stupidly loud and in general, i think it could be faster.

(it goes 30mph down a hill if it feels like it :/)

i searched online for controllers that would fit the numbers and i think a vesc 75100 copy would go quite well, especially if i ever planned to upgrade the battery to 72v.

now my question; what are the differences between the 3 common 75100 models?

theres the bulky one, the aluminium pcb with the usb port attached, and the other aluminium pcb one with the usb port on a cable.

i would like to go with the bulky one for its affordability. as i need four controllers, i wanna go with the budget-friendliest option.

i could buy four of the bulky ones for about 230€, and with the aluminium ones it would cost me upwards of 350€.

for i am a not working 15yo guy, i wanna save as much money as possible

if you have other suggestions what to use, please tell me, im a newbie

ps: sory for my bad england

Today i blew up another ebay controlleršŸ™ƒ

Spintend dual 100v 100a $175. It’s more volts than necessary so it’s a bit inefficient it makes more heat for the same amount of power than an esc closer to max voltage, but if the motors are rated for 350 watts it should be more than enough.

Make sure you understand that they lie about voltage.

Often you will see things like ā€œ72V batteryā€ but the ā€œ72Vā€ is a name, like ā€œGeorgeā€ is a name. It is not a voltage. It’s ā€œnominal voltageā€ which means ā€œvoltage nameā€. That would be a 20S or 84 volt battery, and would exceed the limits of the VESC 75100 controller, which is rated for 75 volts maximum.

The makerbase ones are rated 20s 84v and even if they lie im just gonna do 16s or 18s

Im also thinking of switching to FOC. Do i need other motors? I heard you need alot more stuff like some resistor or something to signal the controllers. Is there much that i need to upgrade?
