was riding normal today as i have been since i got my board up and running. i noticed my motor temp sensor was reading weird negative numbers -60 to -99 so i pulled over to check it out and noticed my vesc was not even powered on. tried pulling the power and plugging it back in and nothing had to be towed back to the car about 15km or so by a fellow mate i was riding with. Vesc is onyl a few months old i got them on 04-Sep-2019 so they are not even all that old. my Wowgo has gone through hell and back and has lasted longer than this im not even sure what to do now. im pretty screwed since this is the 8th ESC fried. i even replaced the motor that caused it last time.
this makes
2x Duel 6.6 FESC
1x single 6 FESC
1x FOCBOX
3x VESC 6
I am also now getting a weird humming sound when i accelerate with the single motor i didnt want to push it incase i damage that one also so i got towed and used it to brake which didnt seem to have the issue im wondering if this could be due to over working a single motor on an AT build? after getting some acceleration it seemed to stop and start a bit.
im not even sure wth is going on here. im thinking ill jsut replace the dam motors with another brand im using Hobbyking ESK8 Motors whic har erated 4400W @ 100Amp whic his the onyl reason i got them. they can handle the power i want to push through them. the motors are only running at 80amp currently so still want to push another 20 each motor but the dam battery is my limiting factor at the moment. so im not sure whats going on here or what the issue is. is it even possibel to repair?
Funny enough I also blew a VESC (4.12 no heatsink) with a SK8 motor. I did many things I know now were wrong, something sneaky is going on with your board.
im wondering if its just the sk8 motors are bad? i have replaced one already but im thinking about chagning brands. not looking at the ones from trampa s they are about $400 a motor whic his just rediculous when all the others are sub $150
Both my 6.6 dual with fried AS was no power. Its also the only common module. a faulty 3.3volt reg will only effect one side I think 5 V is done by drv chip.
I’m just saying if it’s not faulty motor or user error most common issue of the vesc 6 iv seen has been broken low voltage rails. It’s the first place trampa look when you send them back
see if you can bypass the anti spark. make up a loop key adapter and see if the vesc powers on. if so, connect to the vesc tool and type “faults” into the terminal.
if there’s no lights, take the vesc out of the case and do a visual inspection and show us the results
So from the vesc 6.5 schematics the blue led indicates if there’s 3.3V present but without the 5V rail working the 3.3V rail won’t work either and the 5V buck converter is integrated into the drv driver so I would start by checking if the 5V supply is present(it’s pretty easy using a multimeter). And the other leds are controlled by the stm32 which also won’t work without the 3.3V rail
Someone, please correct me if I’m wrong.
