Up for sale today is a beautiful battery pack made by Hyperion that I bought here on this very site and want to pass on since I want to build a mountainboard.
18 mile range on 4wd pneumatics riding on the aggressive side
25 mile range on 2wd pneumatics street riding
Dual XT-60 connectors on either side of battery pack for 4wd setup or cap one side if riding 2wd
Dimensions: 14.5L x 6W x 1 3/4H
When I bought it it had around 1400 miles or 73-75 charge cycles and since I had it, I put another 300 or so miles and ~15 charge cycles. The pack still works flawlessly, charges up to full no problem.

Alright so I read up a little on the Hyperion business. Listen y’all I bought this secondhand on this forum in 2020, had no idea about the fiasco surrounding them. All I can say is that I’ve had this battery for a while and rode it for a couple hundred miles on top of the previous owner’s mileage and it’s worked like a charm no problem for me. That’s all I’ll say.
Once again, I’m selling a battery that’s working perfectly. I’ve had no issues with it and it charges fully. I don’t get why you guys are busting my chops for a company I have nothing to do with. I’m not trying to pass it on to someone because it’s broken, I’m trying to sell it because I need a different battery configuration and I figured someone could use a cheap but good battery for a budget build or something.
Batteries are the most dangerous part of esk8. They not only endanger your life but that of your neighbors.
The battery you are selling was not built with minimum level of safety concerns. If it was posted as a build in process, there would be significant criticisms.
Hyperion batteries are a known risk in this community and have a checkered history.
We don’t want you to lose out on any cash, but we also don’t want a new hobbyist to make a purchase that could potentially harm their family.
I’m glad you haven’t had any issues and sounds like it’s got a ton of miles. It’s been fine this long and will continue to be fine until it’s not.
I do find it weird that there were zero warnings or criticisms back when I bought it last year. I even saw a few regular forum members mention they wanted to buy it.
But it’s fine. I’ll head the warnings. I’m not going to sell it anymore, I wouldn’t want to buy it if I knew all this either. I’m just going to do some research, find how to make it safer and just keep it and forget about a next build. This whole thing has kind of soured me on wanting to make a new build for a while actually.
Remove the shrink, check the welds and solder joints. Reseal in fish paper, add some heat proof tape, and re-shrink wrap. Fish paper rings would have been nice, but if not there, that ship has sailed. As long as the nickel isn’t jank, it won’t be hard.
There’s a battery building thread that folks would be glad to point you in the right direction.
