[US] WTB TB130s

Homebrew batches have tendency to have more failures so that means more throwaway material.

I believe TB130’s will happen someday, but there isn’t enough testing done yet to approve or cancel them, that’s why we haven’t heard anything specific out of torqueboards. Logistics also have to be sorted out.

I think the only reason Dexter has not given the people what they want here is out of fear that the rest of his Torqueboards products (ie. motors, mounts, hangers etc.) may not be able to handle the additional weight and rotating mass without breaking or bending. Regardless, I still want a set of TB 130s! Let’s keep bumping this thread and pestering the man.

I have been thinking about the idea to make a mould that uses a heavily cut up old wheel in the middle and you cast a larger wheel around it, anyone thought about it?

I had similar idea, but by extracting and cleaning up old cores, and then pouring wheel around them. The adhesion to old material is really matter of luck though. Most manufacturers have modified version of their ‘‘72a formula’’.

My idea was to really drill a ton of holes in the old wheels to allow the new material to make a mostly mechanical lock and not need to be super bonded to the old material. Skipping the core extraction and making it just a roughing/drilling op.

I strongly advise you to thread it carefully with the hole drilling setup unless you want to risk tasting pavement unexpectedly. There are adhesives for poli-poli bond, but the adhesion is really matter of luck. Polyurethane doesn’t like to stick to anything really, and in heavily abusive application like skating, glue seam will be the weakest link. By drilling holes you may be able to prevent unexpected disintegration that’s true, however be aware that you will also weaken the structure of the wheel and risk making a cut with sharp drill bit.

Well to be fair, I have no idea where to get any more and the 83A set are hard as rocks.

I am hoping to prove that beggars can be choosers. The TB130s need to be offered with that amazing 72A translucent thane.

@cfelzien …Are you referring to my thane mold? I’ve thought about that……$$$

@RDs …I could get cores made if there was a very high demand. I currently work with a plastic injection
molding company. They would charge about $10,000 for a 4 cavity mold. I " could" make the mold for one of their smaller machines, but not sure the demand would be there…….

Yes. Yes I am. Make a huge one.

There’s a lot more than “meets the eye” to make this work. It looks like @RipTideSports has something great going on!!

Demand wouldn’t really that big I assume. I have access to some injection things as well, and one decent mold is 3 revisions minimum. It would be cheaper to outsource cores from company that already has done them in past. The question is, weather there are any that would share their cores.
For wheels themselves I considered using 3d printed mold for first batches.

I would buy a sett too.

Same @torqueboards cmon. Will pretty please with a cherry on top do?

They were a prototype for a reason. There are already delamination issues with the 110s so will certainly be exacerbated on the 130s
