If I order them new does anyone have a specific recommendation? Does anyone know if there is more than 1 variant of the HW hub and what are the real-world power limitations in a DIY setup?
I would also consider buying used to save some cash for those pricey donuts.
I may be better off just buying loaded hubs but that $400 pill is tough to swallow. However, the price for new HW hubs + donuts isn’t that far off.
Iirc there are some brands using a longer (length) hub motor, so the screws that secure the shield plate to the hub needs to be longer, but they are all the same diameter. Im also not sure if it was just the motor can being longer or the stator inside is actually longer, haven’t open one up
Bumping this old thread because I was gonna ask this same question elsewhere: Has anyone bought hobbywing hubs and found some better than others? More specifically, why do companies like TeamGee have 2 tiers of hub motor (might be lingyi?), as well as Ownboard seems to have a 250W and 600W model
I don’t think the watt rating tell the full story for their board. I’ve own BF hub, meepo hub and exway hub, I don’t know what kind of watt they were rated for, but exway hubs have the most torque out of all three
All were using 10s battery, so no peak voltage difference
yeahhh I have very little faith in the stated ratings, except for comparing between two models from the same branding so I was just using it as a guideline for how much of a performance difference they’re claiming
