There’s lots of different reason’s companies use different charge ports. Charge port selection has a lot of surprisingly complex considerations, including size, current capability, cost, availability, manufacturability, durability, safety, and ease of use. Trying to determine the logic behind exway’s decision is just speculation.

If you wanted to swap it out, any 2-conductor connector that could handle the charge current would work.
It’s not perfect, but a lot of us DIY’ers use XT60s.

XT30 are more than sufficient. (≤30A)

If you’ll be at 4A or less, the 5.5x2.1 barrel connectors are super convenient.

I like the xt60 just because it’s bigger. Not capacity bigger (though it is) but just physically larger and easier to handle. I tried the lp20 and it’s just too big. Need that good mama bear middle ground type connector - xt60h for the win

I use the other end of the xt60 on the charger. keep the board side from getting shorted easier.

And i just make xt60 to whatever adapters. LP20, LP16, XLR, DC5.1 weird backfire hammer connector, …
