[US] Go Kart Hubs for Esk8

& those tires would have a similar max psi as these up around 50? Surprised at how low compared to the max stamped on the tire! Guess it’s the weight difference board vs kart?

Karts also run similarly low psi. The max psi written onto the tire isn’t it’s operational pressure, it’s the maximum pressure it’s rated not to explode at.

Those are the ones I have, and they’re giving me some noticeable wiggle

What hubs are you running?

Jackson’s kart hubs, from this thread

Try some 7/8” ones for sure. I haven’t had any wiggle. The tolerances on these hubs are likely better than most MBS wheels which could be why MBS oversizes them

It’s only 0.4mm. Fuck it, oscillator tool in a vise.

Yeah I was told the MBS one is 22.2mm and these guys who machined this are quite literal

My stock MBS ones measure at 22.6 actually, I guess that’s just how they deal with plastic hubs.

Finally got my wheels put together!

I made these spacers for use with open gear drives, to get the gear away from the rubber. Holds a 28mm bearing and has MBS mounting holes. Total thickness is 10mm, for the 28x12x8 standard bearing plus the 2mm of a 28x12 flange bearing it will interface with.

The idea is like this, but with a larger gear laser cut from 4140. I’m planning to run 16T/109T mod 1.5.

2 layers bolted together, so 10mm wide gear face. The slightly angled edges from laser cutting could be “cancelled out” this way too, by placing them back to back.

Is anyone interested in group buying gears like this to get the price down? I don’t know what it even is yet (the cutting services won’t accept my .STEP, I think I need someone else with premium to put it in a drawing and export .DXF), but the price for 10 should be about half the unit cost of the price per 2.

You can export .dxf with the free version of Fusion. Right click on the sketch in your design and there’s an option to export just that sketch as a .dxf

You dont need to use the drawing feature of fusion at all. Hope this helps :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Unfortunately the teeth have self intersections because they sketch didn’t link up reliably otherwise, and the secondary gear doesn’t have its own sketch since it’s a derivative of the main gear. So I won’t be able to get cutting files directly from sketches.

Create a new sketch on the extruded part and take the projection of your part. That should work nicely in fusion. That’s how I’ve been getting DXF files of my gears

This one turned out great! The wheels and tires are very expensive, the Idea deck is also very top-notch, have you liked it? I was looking to buy one but it’s quite expensive.

Thanks for the tip. It exported a .DXF alright, but it’s got 4.2 meters of mysterious space around the gear. Still produces errors unfortunately. Printing PDF loses fine detail, running through Inkscape to save in different vector formats is no help and the DXF is corrupted and missing teeth when opening in Inkscape. Extruding a clean new part from the new sketch didn’t work, neither did making boolean splits on the part to enforce flatness. Feels like I’ve tried it all at this point.

The forbidden ichor calls to me. To trade away my vitality, to fill my veins with sweet power. To be shackled to the god of CAD is the truest freedom there is, I see it now. For what does a mortal need with his soul, in the end? The thing is squandered on me. All I have to do is surrender.
