One EUC rider actually passed away in a 70-ish mph accident while testing a Begode at the factory in China right before Christmas 2025. Last I read was that the power pad’s velcro didn’t do it’s job and he lost control and hit a tree.
The way these people ride is impressive as hell, they are literally leaning hard into a fall and the EUC is speeding up or slowing down to keep them from from falling.
This is a hard stop.

Well looks like we know what’s going to be next to go after surrons. Probably hasn’t happened yet since I don’t see nearly as many kids on them as bikes. Wonder how jr high / high school kids view EUC. Every kid loves a dirt bike but a unicycle… feels like they’re this generations rollerblades.

I have a beginner EUC I’m learning on, but I can’t help to think how these can be unstable with wind since there’s such a small contact patch on the ground. I just think back when I used to ride, half of the fear is the crash, the other half is getting hit by a car when you’re down.
Just a comment but one of the things I enjoy about esk8’s, is that they are not so popular, and most people don’t really pay attention. It’s only a matter of time, but I felt like esk8’s are much lower on the PEV target list.

Esk8 is Lower profile and lower speeds.
And I feel like people look at me way less crazy if I m in a half shell helmet compared to a full face helmet.

Yeah the friendliness based on helmet type thing is real - I also wear low profile mountain bike pads under more regular style clothes as much as possible - trying to look more like a cyclist than biker

I think it’s a lot to do with not being in traffic. Mess with traffic and people are more likely to hate you lol. Just like cyclists. On a bike path, cool. Holding me up in traffic, not cool.

The new etiquette field for me on Esk8 is park bike paths - less stinkeye looking like the cyclists on them than someone from the dirtbike crew.
Street bike paths are about the same yeah except it seems to psych people out a bit more at stop signs

Sometimes people get mad at me “holding them up in traffic” on my EUC when I’m going 5-10 over the limit already. Fun discussions haha

College friend from first engineering class to graduation, built the wackiest, college-rage-baiting projects, stood side by side with each other into every unfolding chapter of the PEV racing community, and most recently, a roommate of half a year before he departed for new life in China. Miss him dearly still :,)

With 18k miles on esk8s, and 6k miles on EUCs, in my experience, vehicles are more curious about esk8s but don’t publicly interact, while normies tend to react like they’re challenged by EUCs and behave more aggressively around them even when riding 5-10mph above speed limits.
EUCs are certainly more polarizing since the other half of normies not trying to actively kill you want to know all about them; even grandma and Grandpa.

I had a bad spill in August and haven’t been PEV obsessed since, but prior to that, I would use my short board in place of walking while using my OG Sherman in place of driving.
My ideal EUC is the lynx S or Blitz Pro but my current wheel is EB Commander mini.
I miss ek8 diy though because hey are much more dynamic and personalized. And diy’ers are much more knowledgeable, invested, and passionate about each part in their ride.
