Anyone completely dismantled a tsg pass ? If so have you got any photos or anything like that as I want to refurb mine and remove as much of the inside as possible
Removing the inside of a helmet is how you ruin your helmet and get brain damage…get the right size helmet and replace it when it’s damaged
This is the equivalent of just wrapping a piece of tin foil around your head for safety. Not a great idea dude.
Meaning you want to replace the busted foam with new foam right?
At least thats how I read it
I dont think TSG would sell replacement inner foam (aside from the consumable via everyday wear parts), as it goes against common sense for their riders and business model…
3rd voice saying not to bother with whatever youre attempting. Make some wall art with your collection of dead helmets or something…
I would be a little interested in making a DIY helmet foam insert but I would not trust it to any high speeds. Not even sure where I would start with picking materials and shaping them but yeah.
Just for push skating around I could see that being ok if done really well.
I think my intentions have been misunderstood lol , I am refurbishing my helmet and want to dismantle as much as possible , give it a custom paint job and then put it all back together , looks like I cannot remove the foam at all and will mask it up instead I’m mainly intrested in removing the black card / plastic liner inside at the front lower half of the helmet (if it is possible to remove it at all ) not really any videos of a tsg being dismantled on YouTube
This guy painted a TSG Pass: https://www.maxdubler.com/blog/2020/3/23/how-to-paint-your-full-face-helmet
I read through it a bunch, and was going to do it but didn’t want to sacrifice the structural integrity because the paint has chemicals that will seep into the fiberglass and degrade the lining inside the helmet
Looks like tsg do not reccomend any paint of any kind for customising , I’m already half way through the long process of sanding it down and have bought vinyl wrap but vinyl wrap might also cause a problem with the application of heat might damage the helmet , I’ll carry on sanding (not sanding into the shell just using 2000 grit to smoothen it )it down as it will take a long time and do some more research
maybe hydro dipping it? not sure if that would still cause the helmet to have structural problem, but that’s the most non invasive method i can think of
I’ve been a painter for 37 years. I took airbrushing lessons from a world renowned airbrush artists. We’ve done countless helmets. Fiber glass, carbon fiber, kevlar, all without issue.
Most goalies, drivers etc all have custom helmets. As long as you don’t over sand, or use too aggressive sand paper, you’ll be just fine.
