Trailers for esk8

Does anyone use a trailer on an esk8 to haul stuff?

I’m looking for something that will hold toolboxes and work stuff and that will be able to tow behind the esk8 without worrying about it tipping or breaking.

This is what I’ve considered so far:

Tl;Dr: post your trailer experiences and recommendations. Also powertrain choices for hauling.

@tuckjohn

Also Been a couple others around here who hauled kids in trailers

Towed my kids and beer around (separately) and it went fine. Standard bike trailer with a mechanism just like that to attach. Used an esk8 baseplate mounted upside down on top of my rear truck to mount it. Stole that idea from @rafaelinmissouri I’m pretty sure.

Trailer and esk8 is a good combo.

I put mine on a high torque Mountain Board.

If you carve hard you can tip it over.
I have tipped all 3 kids over… Each at a separate time…

But around 20 or below it’s fine.

I used Fiona’s chariot, as a wheelbarrow, to move sandbags recently, and bags of mulch a while ago. Can push, or pull it easily over deep soft grass.

Can also balance the load so there is little to No tongue weight.

When towing Fiona, I can position her directly behind me, or off to the side.

When carving, I can lessen the movement of the chariot with my arm, and will move it left or right to avoid obstacles, or have the esk8 wheels hug a sidewalk edge, and her 4.10X3.5-4 chariot tires still ride on sidewalk.

When I stop, and Fiona jumps out and walks, I put the esk8 in the chariot and walk it myself.

I forced myself to learn the thumbwheel with my left hand as soon as i got an esk8, even though I am right handed as I skate left foot forward, and I bought it to tow the kayak.

The times I do skate solo, the remote feels almost as natural in right hand as it does left.

I tow the Fiona loaded Kayak in my right hand, about 120 lbs , but it is balanced for little tongue weight, and accelerating or braking is hardly ripping out my shoulder.

The chariot is still a work in progress, but fully functional, and I’ve towed Fiona at upto 28mph, so far.

If yiu can use the remote in your other hand, and don’t need a hand free to look at your phone, consider a chariot, instead of the trailer.

Vevor bicycle trailer, I threw a 1⅞ ball hitch on there and it’s been fantastic thus far. 20mph and it feels good, I can def go faster. The entire arm has more flex than I’d like, so it’ll likely need to be updated. The entire thing kinda oscillates while riding but you don’t feel it. Just see it.

I was worried that the ball hitch setup would have too much friction, but it works like a dream. Didn’t even grease it.

Made of 2x⅛” angle iron.

Wayyyyy too much flex for a 110lb load (50kg). The angle iron is twisting hard. I think I gotta replace with square tube. It was getting really bouncy around 18mph (30km/h)

I stumbled across this thread and did some searching for hitches off the trucks. I found this old blog post about the Longboard Larry hitch mounts, which I can’t find for sale but these look decently good, plus using a rear truck only longboard for the trailer.
