Tracked PEV. Tank tracks, treads. Anything in the PEV spirit with a shitload of traction, so many many wheels may count as treaded.

Check for loose shoelaces…

Me mere hours ago, that is on mounting hardware not even the footstop.

The OneTrack really got me. Does it turn? Is it still lean controlled? I have several questions.

The guy was ahead of his times, it would be the most expensive board by far :joy:

Not quite a PEV, but is seems large and powerful enough to work as a base for one: The XRC Brawler by Xtreme RC — Kickstarter

Maybe they’ll let us buy parts

This I was meaning to post before.

^^^
Uses male rods/bolts in the chain attaching the tread to transfer torque from the rollers instead of destroying and reassembling the links painstakingly. Chainsaw chain style vs roller chain.

The kinda female sprocket for that could probably be made to fit over normal 4in rim hubs. Not printed I would think if you are doing more than testing, tough slippery plastic being ideal. The simple geometry means they could be made with a drill press and some indexing.

This reduced toothed sprocket idea is about as good as the last DIY roller chain tank track idea I linked (using bolts through chain link as the male-sided sprocket, and custom femaile type gear sprocket things)
Here the interference issue is solved with half the teeth engaging, only simple mods to off the shelf sprockets instead of the complex female sprockets for bolts.

in general good ways to get a track drive for an esk8 I think still involved rubber tracks… possibly modules semi easily attached over standard drive systems. I would hope the rubber track being diy from some larger easily found tires.

Could make something akin to this but self balancing if you add some roll pivot to the deck, or try using a more standard rc steering method. The self balancing would actually be more straightforward software wise because I’m not sure how to mix pwm inputs to drive tracks without custom code. Also sudden turn inputs from a remote could throw you off.

A single rounded track or two tracks in line with steering trucks like Ivan Meranda is probably a better idea but the landbearshark has it’s own appeals mainly basically being a tank robot when not ridden.

I have been sketching a two inline steering track design for OW frames but sidetracking to a parallel track along the sides of the board sure does appeal.
