Total time to fully disassemble/reassemble board? Bonus challenge try it with your eyes closed

My question is should locktite be included as a step? I would guess so.

how “fully” do you mean? as in taking apart the drivetrain too? desoldering the BMS wires? putting the VESC on a reflow heater and removing the SMD components? unwrapping the Li-Ion cells and separating the cathode and anode?

I guess some things you can only disassemble once…

Unplugging and unscrewing everything that does not come assembled. I think drivetrain could only have to be attached not disassembled or some level like Drive/wheels not on trucks maybe lets say?

I think more like just wheels off drivetrain and trucks off, enclosure having everything that is not glued in removed.

Drivetrain assembly/mounting only would be the interesting thing to try with eyes closed I guess.

well I can’t open my enclosure without having a new roll of butyl tape to replace the stuff I cut off, but I can take my enclosure and drivetrain and wheels off in about 5 minutes. I guess 10 minutes for both off and on. Gear drives mount so nicely. Although if I need to take my rear wheels off of the drivetrain that’s an extra whole 5 minutes.

Yeah maybe next time you have a build with no butyl tape yet you can try timing the build from nothing installed to everything installed.

Gotta find where to draw the line for how assembled the drive/electronics are for timing though.

my next build will be like that, I’m going to get all the parts together without assembling anything and try to film the entire build in one go.

Clearly, he’s talking about unsmelting the metals back into ore and burying them.

Could probably convert my eMTB to analog in two-three minutes since everything’s just Velcroed on. Only thing that would need unscrewing is loosening the motor mounts and loosening the motors to de-tension the chain, otherwise I can leave the wheel sprocket on the wheel since that doesn’t affect use. Reassembly will take slightly longer due to tensioning the chain, and even longer to wait for loctite to cure
