Thanks!

Have you ever rode a 4wd? It is indeed a noticeable difference if you are conquering steep hills or if you are on dirt and loose gravel.

It also affect the steering ability a lot.
Baja boards might be different as they have the motors on the case below the deck and not on the truck on a mount.

So 50E wouldn’t be the best Samsung Offering?

Did you read what I wrote?

Yeah, like I never tried this variant.
@b264 Sorry.:sweat_smile:

they are cheap, high capacity and high discharge.

There are many kinds of “best”.

Best capacity?
Best discharge?
Best low price?
Best light weight?
Best lifetime?
Best temperature range?
Best safest?

50E only excels in one of those. In general, they aren’t very good for esk8 use.

Oh ok. Just looking for the best all around cell out there!

Samsung INR18650-30Q would be what you’re looking for.

I see an unshielded inductor on that PCB…

I have an even more simply question.
Is the c-rating on my hobbyking lipos wrong?
Is what they’ve stated on their product sheet false advertising?

…probably shouldn’t look too much into it as I anyway never reach those currents…

Absolutely false.

C ratings on hobby lipo batteries has become (well has been for at least 5 years) a dick measuring contest as far as I know. I used to talk to the guy who owns SMC racing and he told me that the factories who produce these batteries basically make up these ratings for marketing.

Even if they do test the C rating, they can skew the results in their favor such as heating up the pack to lower the IR or running the test for various durations of time. There is no industry standard for testing “burst” current. That could be 50ms or 1 minute.

My comment was sarcastic

Why would that matter for a product that dsn’t go through any regulatory process?.. alas, using unshielded inductors is alot cheaper and very commonly used either way
